Saudi manufacture and development of a cruise missile (land-sea) and (land-to-ground)..

I remember a well-known Turkish user saying that "Arabs cannot even develop a cruise missile" while repeating that 1 million times in every Arab-related thread on PDF and I recall many users laughing at that claim. I guess that this user will have to find something else to invent now.

110 km range, work ongoing on increasing the range to 200 km.

Thanks for the update, this is quite huge news and great to see. Many haters will get seizures or additional hemorrhoids so I should probably not have created this thread after seeing your post in the first place. Sorry for this.

Also this is clearly just a "tip of the iceberg", KSA has had an entire ballistic missile program running for ages. "Western/US" sources broke that ages ago as well with satellite evidence. Yet reading a supposed military forum like PDF, when reading about Arabs here, one would think that we were talking about the military industry of Togo.

Can Arab users tell us more about this development?

@The SC @hamza gareeb @Philip the Arab @Ghostkiller ?

Also this appears to be “old news”. The tweet and video is from March 2022. Do we have any new information?
5 months old news.. you can't go on fast forward with these things..The guy in the video said everything _meaning technology-wise_ is already in the hands of Saudis.. and working on upgrades (Range, Size, Guidance...etc) all the time..We are all going to be happy seeing the tests.. just give it its time..

good news hope the best. they should work on air lunched CM it will extend the range.

what I am waiting the most is Chinese President visit next week to KSA I am sure there will be too many TOT china give TOT for UCAV series before and BM program since 80s.

TKF-500 Turbofan Engine

This project aims to research, develop and manufacture the TKF-500 Turbofan with a tandem blades compressor and low specific fuel consumption (SFC). This engine can be used in many applications, such as: private aircraft, small personal aircraft, drones and guided rockets. The engine was chosen very carefully based on its advanced technological features, such as its thrust force of 5.35 kN, total weight including accessories of 96 kg, speed of 0.9 times the speed of sound, and maximum revolutions per minute (rpm) of 27000. It is 1005 mm long, with an external diameter of 360 mm.

The project also includes the design of two different axial compressors. The conventional axial compressor, and the tandem blades axial compressor. The latter can provide the engine with an air compression ratio up to 2:3:1 in each stage, compared to 1:6:1 using the conventional compressor. The whole project was carried out by trained and qualified national staff in cooperation with the Brazilian company, Turbomachine, in order to help achieve the objectives of Vision 2030.

The project aims to:

  • Study, design and manufacture turbo-fan engines, especially those equipped with a tandem blades compressor.
  • Train and qualify national engineers and technicians to become jet engine specialists.
  • Increase the local content in non-oil sectors.
  • Transfer and localize jet engine technology to build national capabilities.

Key Achievements:

  • Completing the manufacturing of all the initial industrial TKF-500 Turbofan model parts and components.

In the video they said air to ground and ground to ground cruise missiles..

I don't see it happening in at least 20 years, KALE did 10 years to gain technology to develop a Turbojet engine for cruise missiles KTJ-3200. When they started this they found out that ther is not a industry to support the project. From raw Materials of engine parts to electonics, so they invested a lot of money in machines and in people, now they have layered foundation of Turbojet engines for cruise missiles in Turkey. Ignition systems, electric control unit, power generator and a lot of sub systems.

Why KSA will not able to design a turbojet engine is because of no industry and no university working together. Materials to machinerey from abroad for these kind project you have export restricions, if you have the people from outside you don't have machine or materials to build it. It is not only this, a lot of projects will go doom. I am saying why it will not succeed in short time, you will experinces what export restricions is because of sensitive technology :p: . And money will not save you.

backstage officials of KSA and UAE are trying to gain parts and machines from Western companies what will fail...

KSA has the best ranked universities in the entire Muslim world, KSA is spending the most on education of all Muslim countries (top 5% in the world too - almost 10% of the annual GDP is spent on education) those universities receive the most funding of any in the Muslim world, KSA has the highest per capita scientific citations in the Muslim world of any country with a sizable local population (not including small native populations like in UAE and Qatar where there is barely any industry - Qatar in particular).

KSA is one of the richest countries in the world when it comes to mineral wealth. They have all the mineral components needed at home. As well as all the infrastructure in the form of machines and production facilities.

They have had a domestic ballistic missile program for ages so designing and manufacturing a cruise missile with a small range is not that difficult.

there is more chance donkeys will reach the moon before this happens

I only see one ignorant donkey here and that is you, I am afraid. Anyway are you not the same gora worshipper that was spamming the forum of how the UK is capable of invading both China and Russia and defeating them?

I think so as well. I was shocked to learn from another user here on PDF, that the visit to KSA by Xi Jinping will be the first foreign visit of China's president since Covid-19 began. Is that really the case?

Old news but TKF-500 Saudi Arabian made jet engine used in small private aircraft, drones, and guided missiles. The engine was developed in JV by Brazil turbomachine company and KACST (King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology)

Saudi-Ukrainian Cooperation on Hrim Short-Range Ballistic Missiles (SRBMs)

Published on January 18, 2022

hrimcover_783008.jpg

Secretly funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Hrim is a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) currently under development in Ukraine. In exchange for the sponsorship, KSA will receive a full transfer of technology (ToT) that will enhance the Kingdom’s ability to domestically produce ballistic missiles (BMs).
Our 1045-word (3 pages) special report sheds light on the shadowy Hrim BM program and subsequent Saudi involvement, and provides an update on the system’s status (e.g. when the Saudis will receive the first transfer).

Apparently according to CIA/Pentagon this was used by Ukraine in the Ukraine-Russia war. Possibly the strike on that military base in Crimea!

Ukraine could for the first time use the Grim-2 complex based on a ballistic missile

Ukraine could for the first time use the Grim-2 complex based on a ballistic missile

On June 26, Russia launched several missiles at Odessa. Two of them were shot down.

What we know

To destroy Russian missiles, the Grim-2 operational-tactical missile system could be used. Previously, its use has not been reported. TSN writes. The Armed Forces have not yet officially commented.

"Grim-2" is built on the basis of a ballistic missile. The complex was developed in 2013 by the design bureau "Pivdenne" according to the projects "Borisfen" and "Sapsan". The range is 280 km, but in the future it will be increased to 500 km, as in the Russian Iskander-M. If necessary, Grim-2 can use anti-aircraft, anti-ship and operational-tactical missiles.

Some fools and ignorant people scoff, whether Turkish or otherwise. I want to tell him that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has the strongest universities in the Middle East, ahead of Israel, Turkey and Iran. The kingdom holds a strong position in patents and scientific research, as well as the largest project to send hundreds of thousands of Saudis to study around the best universities and colleges world.

KSA has a lot of work ahead of it (just the beginning of the journey) but the ignorance is indeed staggering. The reality is that KSA/GCC is one of the most developed areas of the world and one of the fastest developing ones whether it comes to scientific output, infrastructure or the military sector. Only people with an agenda or a bias will deny this. Either that or just ignorance.

In any case a lot of it is also due to the fact that most/many military developments in KSA and other Arab countries are mostly published in Arabic so if you are not an Arabic speaker you have no idea what is going on. Western/English sources are woefully ignorant and recycle old news 10 years in a row. A few days ago a thread was created about some possible KSA-Turkey drone cooperation (Tactical Report I think) and this is a supposed "popular" Western defense source, yet in that article it was claimed that this would be the first drone production within KSA when KSA itself has produced almost 10 of their own drones within KSA, has cooperated with China for years (with a Chinese drone factory being established in KSA years ago) and even funnier, KSA has already developed a local off-spring of the Vestel (Turkish company) Karayel drone years ago to make it even funnier.

So when people get their news from such sources, you can almost guess what their knowledge will be.

O Pakistani beggar and Turkish shawarma worker, compare your country's position in this ranking with Saudi Arabia, and then speak.

The indicator shows the number of total granted patents in USPTO. According to WIPO, a patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention, which is a product or a process that provides, in general, a new way of doing something, or offers a new technical solution to a problem.

LoL

I wrote why KSA will not able to make a cruisemissile engine and answer is biggest economy and some JV with defence companies :p:. KSA have paid billions for Chinese drone technology with ToT stories, how did the story ended? Oooo asking Bayraktar to open a facility in KSA.

You don't have the people and industry, thats the hard reality, first go invest in people and open up factories. You will need a eco system of companies making parts.
