Saudi Arabia’s land-based VL MICA air defence system spotted

The Royal Saudi Arabian Armed Forces appear to have acquired land-based Vertical Launch MICA (VL MICA) air defence system made by MBDA.

In social media were released undated imagery showing the new land-based VL MICA air defence system at the Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Ministry of Defence of Defence and Aviation (MoDA) is showing interest in the land-based VL MICA air defence system made by MBDA since 2010. Vertical Launch MICA (VL MICA) is a short range, ground based air defence system deploying the MICA fire-and-forget missile, currently the only missile in the world capable of being fitted with either a heatseeking homing head (VL MICA IR) or with an active radar (VL MICA RF).

According to the MBDA, organisation of a typical VL MICA unit is based on a vehicle-mounted shelter-protected Tactical Operations Centre (TOC) also known as the Platoon Command Post (PCP). This is capable of carrying out all Command, Control and Coordination functions, including real-time engagement, mission planning, system monitoring and connection with the higher level of command.

The TOC remotely controls a tri-dimensional radar mounted on a separate vehicle and three to six vertical launcher units also mounted on vehicles.

The VL MICA system design ensures ease of deployment, facilitates integration within a global air defence network, minimizes the need for personnel and reduces the logistic footprint and Life Cycle Cost.

saudi has so much money, so much new weapons buying..........but i have a feeling that those are going to use against muslim. from my heart i naver like the saudi regime only respect come for the iranian.

Neither Saudi nor Iranian regime cares for ummah or other Muslims. Both are busy trying to establish their control and influence in the region. This kind of d*ck measuring contest is what has weakened the Muslims and eroded away whatever little solidarity that may have existed in the past.

i am new hare, before come to pdf...i have no idea about iran and saudi militry cabability, + usrail-usa-saudi relation. saudi suporting isil type terorist. the more i am learning about this to country the more i am in the side of iran. and iran want to attack saudi? is that a joke? details please. where you got this information.

Don not talk about jokes when you are not familiar with subjects.. Have you heard about Houthis attaching KSA from Yemen with Iranian missiles (technology provided to the Houthis to make ballistic missiles.
And since you are very new here don't be arrogant.. and do your search before asking where the information came from..and if you are just trolling.. believe me that you will be banned very quickly on this forum..it is against the rules..

1) Iran ..in the Shah Era was importing billions in arms from the US.. they still have them.. like the F-14.. Saudi Arabia is buying weapons to defend itself.. do not forget that Al Haramein are in KSA and more than that shoud be spent to defend them..

2) Iran wanted to export its own Islamic type revolution to other Islamic nations..(that is what have created this Sunni vs Shia'a issue).. You can be sure that if the Shah of Iran had managed to give the Iranian population at large the same level of comfort the Saudi population has and still enjoys.. that there would have been no revolution in the first place..in Iran..

3) So what Saudi Arabia has to do with it.. Iranian say death to America and death to Usrael on the streets.. when Americans and Usraelis are already paranoid about Muslims in general.. and than Iran attacking Arab countries through its proxies.. just because Saudi Arabia is considered a friend by the US (forget Usrael)!?.. this makes no sense at all.. because then.. Iran should attack China and everyone who is considered a friend by the US.. there are some conflicts of interests in the region between Arabs and Iran, but they have never been pushed to such extents like Iran did.. it was easy to solve them.. if Iran did not involve itself in their internal affairs..threatening their national security.. Iran was told many times through the years that that was a red line.. not to be crossed even by allies and close friends.. but Iran just kept going at it till recently!!!

4) Freedom of press is a notion.. not reality..one should read their news on both sides and other independent sides to try to figure out the truth.. but in order to do that practically and without much doubt, one should be well versed and educated about world affairs..
