A Saudi family has given up its right to retribution against an Indian man who murdered their son during a dispute that erupted between them.

Emir of Najran, Prince Jalawi Bin Abdulaziz Bin Musaed, blessed the move as he received the Lobeid family – whose son Saleh was murdered by the Indian man.

The emir received the Lobeid family at his diwan on Monday. Jaber Hassan Abu Saq, the chairman of the executive committee for reform and amnesty in Najran, also attended the meeting.

Prince Jalawi said the Lobeid’s announcement giving up retribution without considering race or nationality “embodies the characteristics of the generous Saudi society which represents the morals of the honest Arab Muslims - morals which the Prophet, peace be upon him, had called for.”

The Lobeid family also voiced content with their decision.

Seems people of Najran are very kind.

Genorisity is highly valued in all corners of Arabia and dare I say the Arab world. However you will always have bad apples who are often very vocal or become vocal if you know what I mean here.

Such news is not unique. It happens on a monthly basis but nobody posts about it here or elsewhere or take notice of it. It's quite normal.

Also this would not have been possible in a Western country for instance. This Indian man (the murderer) would have been punished regardless of the wishes of the victims family. That's what I value highly about Sharia law.

Social values are very important and should be preserved. Arab culture is disintegrating very fast due to impact of corporate culture. I support to preserve Arab culture because few people enjoy to explore the Arab land after reading Quran. Looking around and exploring the dwellings of prophets mention in Holy Quran its very strange feeling. You live there, may be you don't understand this feeling. Meeting Arab in camel skin camp and enjoy tea is more fun.

Hopefully one day when KSA opens up for tourism you will get the opportunity to do a road trip across KSA (a country the size of Western Europe) and explore all the different ancient historical regions and their cultures, practices, landscapes, cuisine, folklore etc. Trust me, there is a lot to see whether you are interested in Islamic history or pre-Islamic history. Or just pure nature.

Anyway Haider, you will like this video and this thread. Take a look.

I have a question. What is stopping KSA from opening up to tourism at present?

People come to Saudi for Hajj or umrah, for that they need a visa, which cost a lot of money. If you start to issue visa for tourism, which would be cheaper, people would start coming on these then.

Also it not physically possible to check every person visa statues when they enter the haram. At any given time, foot traffic through any one of the gate is very high, and it would not wise to slow it down. Also the haram belongs to all Muslim, so they can't stop people from entering it.

But that situation is never going to change. Does that mean SA will never open to tourism?

Yes Saudis don't run around doing good deeds holding camera in their hands just like westerners. Good deed should be between the person and Allah. But Saudi government should take initiative to counter Iranian propaganda against the Kingdom. Just yesterday a forum member here said Saudi police deport If they see any Shia and give rewards If you inform the police of Shia whereabouts in the Kingdom. I mean how pathetic are the people inventing these lies and how blind are the people who are not even investigating the news and spreading it as truth. @HAIDER Got you Sir jee :D

True, we don't hear good things about Saudi hospitality.

We only hear a lot of bad stuff about how Saudi treat their domestic employees.

Little to nothing, the so called "racists" are usually just people who want to preserve the culture but come off as assholes about it.

Tortured by police forces which was not sanctioned by the Saudi government. Egypt's police is notorious for this so don't go around pointing fingers ok akhi?
