CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the Mohammed Najib military base on Saturday in Al-Hammam area west of Alexandria.
The inauguration was attended by a Saudi delegation headed by Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal as well as delegations from other Arab countries.
In a speech during the ceremony, El-Sisi said: “The presence of Arab brothers at the inauguration of the Mohammed Najib military base highlights the unity of the Arabs and the common destiny of Arab countries and their peoples, as well as their constructive cooperation to face the challenges of the Arab nation.”
He warned countries interfering in Egyptian internal affairs: “You will not be able to undermine Egypt or our brothers in the region. We will not let anyone interfere in our affairs, and similarly, we will not interfere in others’ affairs… Each country should enjoy its own privacy despite shared religion, culture and region.”
El-Sisi said: “We all stand here today to tell the whole world that we are working together to build and not destroy, cooperate and not conspire, maintain peace and not spread strife and conflict between nations and peoples.”
He added that Egypt is engaged in two major battles: Counterterrorism and achieving economic and social development.
El-Sisi said terrorism is a complex phenomenon that has many aspects, the most important of which is perhaps the role of countries and parties sponsoring and financing it.
“It is impossible to forgive those who finance terrorism with billions of dollars, leading to the killing of our citizens, while boasting about the rights of brothers and neighbors,” he said, adding that Egypt will keep promoting peace and will never submit to threats of terrorism.
The Saudi delegation included Interior Minister Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Naif; Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Said, minister of state, Cabinet member and acting minister of civil service; and Ambassador to Egypt Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Qattan.
El-Sisi also attended the ceremony of new graduates from various faculties and military institutes, and inspected, with Arab delegations, troops taking part in the parade.
Participants attended an aerial show of Rafale aircraft, followed by a presentation of two separate F-16 models.

Tagging does not work. Bad. Very bad.

More militarization is needed across the entire Arab world in order to ensure and control incompetent regimes. Only way to protect yourself from harmful internal or external meddling.

Looking forward to the 1 trillion USD military budget of KSA in 2050.:yahoo:

and the Joint Arab Military Force.:yahoo:

1 trillion USD military budget in 2050? Soothsaying is haram, bro.

Insha'Allah that number will even be greater than that.

In all seriousness, the current military budget is nearly 100 billion. Hopefully it can grow significantly by 2030 let alone 2050.

Anyway more militarization must, should and will occur.

:D

I just don't really believe in the capabilities of any Arab military. Having the hardware is one thing, being able to fully utilize it is another thing. 2 years ago, our German prof told us that British and French advisers are effectively leading the Saudi & UAE armies. I suppose this hasn't changed yet and for me this is simply not acceptable.

Well, you are entitled to your view however your professors are speaking nonsense.

Qatar? Turkey? Iran? USA? EU? Israel?

Peoples, groups, entities, organizations and countries that want to harm the security of the Egyptian nation. The same people who are killing Egyptian soldiers and civilians while we speak. They know who they are.

I did get the tag, Brother. Thanks. :-) Sisi didn't mix words as to who the message was directed at.

I think that we all know, bro.:raise:

still, you are not in the list of top 10 Powerful militaries I wonder why?
Pakistan with budget of merely 8 billion $$ ranks 14/15

Congratulations.

Maybe, just maybe, because we don't have 200 million people, or have been ruled by the military (been a militarized nation) ever since we were created in 1947, or first began to improve our military in the 1990's. This is just the beginning and we already have one of the most powerful militaries in the world (out of 200 nations) and we are already a regional power. For now this is more than enough. BTW KSA is not the only Arab nation. There are 20 + more and I was specifically talking about militarization across the Arab world. KSA will only improve on all fronts. That's what the data is showing on all fronts. Painful for some and reason for butthurt for others but do we care? Not the slightest.

Israel is also a small nation but they have very powerful military so this population thing isn't valid excuse

why would it be painful for me? we already own much more than you'll ever have , Btw since KSA isn't our enemy so whatever you buy doesn't concern us at all

And why do you think that USrael has that?

Are you sure about that? In particular the air force? Well, I agree and I share the same view, hence I found your initial post senseless and ignorant. Anyway this is not the topic of this thread so let us leave it at that.

Wonder why KSA been arming Egypt for last many years. Good move. But, don't know if Egyptian will be proved as trustable partner.

Egypt did very well in 1973. The fault was in the command structure and Sadat making the major battlefield decisions. Had he left them to the Shazly and the field generals, that war would've been an undisputed Egyptian victory instead of the contested one that it ended up being. I think it's very safe to say that 44 years later and the military improvements that have come with that are much better.

Nowadays we're seeing fighting against terrorism and militias and not large scale wars where you would be able to see these differences and improvements. Every country has a tough time fighting terrorism, but the difference is that Muslim countries have a great burden in that they need to worry about collateral damage to their own people (with the exception of Assad), whereas foreign entities fighting in the ME don't so much.
