Saudi Arabia is already building 560 mosques in Bangladesh. Now they are keen to build the largest mosque in Dhaka. Alhamdulillah but our people are not used to pray at mosque regularly. Mosque attendance is very low.

সোমবার রাতে রাজধানীর হোটেল রেডিসনে দেশের প্রতিটি জেলা-উপজেলায় একটি করে মোট ৫৬০টি মডেল মসজিদ ও ইসলামিক কেন্দ্র স্থাপনের বিষয়ে সফররত সৌদি প্রতিনিধি দলের সঙ্গে বাংলাদেশ সরকারের প্রতিনিধি দলের দ্বিপাক্ষিক বৈঠক অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। বৈঠকে বাদশাহর নামে দেশের সর্ববৃহৎ মসজিদ নির্মাণে তাদের ইচ্ছার কথা জানান তারা। প্রধানমন্ত্রীর মুখ্য সচিবের নেতৃত্বে আলোচনায় অংশগ্রহণকারী নীতি-নির্ধারকরা ঢাকায় সর্ববৃহৎ মসজিদ নির্মাণে সৌদি সরকারের ইচ্ছা পূরণে প্রয়োজনীয় উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করবেন বলে জানান।

সভা শেষে ধর্মসচিব আনিছুর রহমান জানান, সারাদেশে মডেল মসজিদ নির্মাণের উদ্যোগের প্রশংসা করে তারা আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদানের ব্যাপারে নীতিগতভাবে রাজি হয়েছেন। তবে তারা এক মাস পর চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্ত জানাবেন।
