LONDON: Saudi Arabia will host the world heavyweight title rematch between Britain’s Anthony Joshua and champion Andy Ruiz Jr of the United States in December.
The high-profile Dec. 7 duel, dubbed ‘Clash on the Dunes’, will see Joshua trying to win back the IBF, WBA and WBO titles he sensationally lost to Ruiz in New York in June.

The bout will take place in Diriyah, which incorporates the UNESCO World Heritage site of Al-Turaif, on the outskirts of Riyadh.
Promoters Matchroom Boxing said the fight details will be officially revealed at a news conference in London on Monday.
The rematch had been widely touted but Cardiff’s Principality Stadium was tipped as favorite to stage the event.
The event is the latest high-profile sport contest to take place in the Kingdom.
In February, Saudi Arabia hosted a first European Tour golf event which was won by former world number one Dustin Johnson while the world’s most gruelling motor sports race, the Dakar Rally, will be raced in the country in 2020.
In July this year, British boxer Amir Khan won the WBC international welterweight title with a fourth round stoppage of Australian Billy Dib in Jeddah.

Great. Hopefully the sport of boxing will grow further in KSA. Boxing is an ancient sport originating in the Arab world (first archeological evidence of it at least) and even at the time of Prophet Muhammad (saws) it was a common sport. Great sport for fitness as well. Obviously there are risks involved with the professional aspect but only 0,1% of those practicing make it big. Rest should mostly be intended as a great physical exercise and some harmless sparring.

With all due respect what are you blabbering about? This has nothing to do with Hajj. Our Iranian friend did clearly not read the article posted.

The fight will take place not far from Riyadh (Diriyah - a World Unesco Heritage Site) over 1000 km away from Makkah and Madinah and has nothing to do with religion, politics etc. In December this year moreover.

It is about KSA opening up in terms of international sporting events and other events hence KSA being awarded the Dakar Rally and soon Formula 1 coming to KSA and many, many other great events.

BTW for your information, monotheism has a much, much longer history in Arabia than Pakistan as monotheism originated in Arabia and before even Islam a large percentage of Arabians were Christians, Jewish and Hanifs. Ancient Semitic Pagans as well that worshipped idols which 90% of the world back then did.

Saudi Arabian leadership is not money hungry but have donated more money to Muslims than any other Muslim country. Generosity is in the blood of us Arabians.

As for our scholars, we have had some of the most respected scholars throughout the Islamic ages (if not the most respected) as well as in modern-day times.

That the Muslim world is a mess on many fronts is due to the collective Muslim community and regimes in power. Singling out 1 country, a country that happens to have helped Pakistan in all its difficult times as much as KSA could help it, is insane and quite frankly disrespectful. No wonder that most Arab users (peaceful) left PDF voluntarily. A country that hosts the LARGEST Pakistani diaspora in the world although we could easily have hosted only Arabs instead or say replaced Pakistanis with Indonesians or Indians or whatever.

Anyway what is your own country doing for Kashmir? Not much other than words either. You failed the Kashmiris back in 1947 as Pakistani users here openly write about. Look inwards before pointing.

As far as this event is concerned this is nothing bad. Its their country and theyhave every right to organize such events whenever they want. But no mention of oppression of muslims throughout the world specially Syria, Filisten and Kashmir were disappointing. But on the same time this is also a fact that the condition of muslims today is because of the corrupt and coward leaders we have in every other country. The rivalry between Iran and Saudia Arabia has weakened the muslim world, This rivalry has cost us lives of hundereds of thousands of innocent muslims and who knows how many mare will die just because of these two before they finaly realize that no one cares if you are a Shia or Suni. They know you just as muslims.
