Saudi Arabia to sign security cooperation with Bangladesh: Foreign ministry official

Cooperation is a good thing. I am all for it. I hope SA recruits BD personnel in their security forces.

SA is in a critical juncture where they may be undergoing a recalibration their future geo-strategic stance. BD must stand with it as one of the critical Muslim global player but more importantly a critical market for us. A tighter alignment with SA is in BDs interest.

NO.

If you wish good for them, you can wish for them to learn to wipe their own *** for once. BD personnel are not mercenaries and must not be deployed as mercenaries. This practice destroys the military from within. Our forces are only for the defense of our country and nothing else.

BD MUST NOT stand with SA or any other so called "Muslim power". BD must stand for itself only. If there is a need for a "Muslim power" in the world, I don't see the reason why BD must support some other country or nation to be that power. What ingredients BD lack other than a spine as a Muslim country that it can't envisage ITSELF as a major Muslim power?

PS: I urge you to try and establish a link between quarterly Saudi investment news and military co-operation news. I established this link long ago. Basically, the investment is the carrot, kicking out BD workers from Saudi is the stick and BD is the donkey. What they wanted for a while now is our troops to do their fighting in Yemen like mercenaries. Their quarterly blabber about big investment in BD started around the time Saudi-Yemen war started.

How would SA employing our retired military folks just like they do pakistans destroy BD military?

And who are you to make judgement on the type of manpower BD exports.

BD ex military are a very skilled resource, more often than not with international experience. It is their field of specialism, why can they not use it. Nearly 80% of officers retire by the age of between 48-50.

I do see BD as a Muslim power but that does not mean we should not cooperate with SA.

Great that you have recently discovered the Saudi media propaganda machine and thank you for your advise.

However, you have the wrong end of the stick. My suggestion is not the recruitment of ACTIVE BD personnel as you are assuming. That would be illigal under BD law.

Here is a link to assist you understand the issue better, written by a brigadier general of BA.

Retired military officers do not need a security co-operation signed between the two countries on a government level. They are free to go and work anywhere.

The news doesn't say anything about sending retired military officers. Because the two governments are signing a deal, it must be the in service military personnel.

Rest of your post assumes that it's retired personnel who will be sent. It's worthless commenting on that unless that is clarified.

My comment relating to deal signed was simply it was good, BA should engage globally as much as possible.

In relation to recruitment of BA personnel i should have put in a separate paragraph. No direct link was being made to the deal in my mind. However my comment stands, there are good opportunities for our military personnel in in SA and GCC as a whole. Not only are our people well equipped for such a role, being sunni muslims is an additional plus point.

BD wont fight on behalf of anyone in the way you seem to think may be happening. BD end of the day is a democracy and somethings our populace can not be made to do. Fight against Yemen is one of them. Not conceivable, not deliverable even for a military dictatorship. BD deployment in SA during desert sheild was possible because we went to defend SA not to attack Iraq. BD forces did not take part in any offensive action.
