Saudi Arabia to provide polio vaccine to Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia has announced to provide ten million dosages of polio drops for the children of Pakistan.
The medicine has reached Pakistan and it would be handed over to the local authorities later this week. In a brief chat with The News acting Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Jasim Muhammad Al-Khaldi said Tuesday that it was the first consignment of the medicine that would be administered through staff dedicated by the government of Pakistan for the purpose.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz takes special care of Pakistan and its people. The polio drops are being provided under his instructions, he added.The provision of polio drops by the Saudi government establishes that nothing is part of the drops, which is forbidden in Islam. The decision of Saudi government to provide Pakistan polio drops would dispel the negative impression created by certain elements about the polio drops.
The administration of polio drops has got nothing to do with the religion. The Saudi authorities have kept the medicine under required temperature so that weather shouldn’t have any adverse effect on its quality.
In the meanwhile sources said that Saudi government had also decided to contribute sizeable relief package for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from North Waziristan Agency due to ongoing military operation against the terrorists.
Saudi administration is also consigning substantial Ramazan relief package for the needy in Pakistan. It is likely that the announcement pertaining to both the relief packages would be made later this week separately that would be followed immediate supplies, the sources indicated.
