The Pentagon is said to be frustrated that Saudi Arabia made a deal with Russia for the TOS-1A multiple launch rocket system (MLRS).

Tactical Report has prepared a 330-word report to shed more light on the Pentagon’s position and the Saudi reaction.

Note that the TOS-1A MLRS is mounted on a tank chassis and is designed to launch unguided thermobaric rockets using a fuel-air explosive and are suited for attacking heavily-fortified positions.

. . . .
Is they care about monopoly then they should sell F 16s to PAF
No, its in their strategic interests to make armament sales to India which will most likely be bigger since the Indian armed forces are bigger and therefor have more money to spend. Hence, why the US showed the F-21 to India.

The US has nothing like it.. their systems have been bought by KSA before.. so this is just some crying pointing to the main system that is coming.. a.k.a the S-400..

I always wondered, is reverse-engineering SAM systems that Saudi Arabia currently has hard?

The US relationship with Saudi is driven by a single long term interest, that it to control the Holy Muslim King. It also has benefits like arming them against Iran (also a US enemy)

But Saudi is clever now and they done multiple dealings. Cant really do much because the relationship is more important

USA is going to be Annoying in Arab arm deals and defence industry what they want 400 billion deal not enough?:disagree:

You can not just do reverse-engineering for any product you like.. you can be sanctioned for life from the vendor.. You can do it to old tech and that also with permission.. unless you do not have relations anymore with the country of origin.. Iran is a good example..

Doesn't Iran have relations with Russia though? I don't think the Russians mind a bit if they do it. Also what about China with the Crotale?

Have you noticed what they are allowed to reverse-engineer from Russia with permission? only old tech..
As for China.. the economic interests are so huge with US and EU.. that taking a short range air-defence tech from France would not be worthy of a legal fight against China.. much more important tech has been reverse-engineered by the latter and the West did not budge.. that is some economy of scale..The Russians.. would sell China anything it wants and give the permission for making it locally with few modifications..'cause it knows as well as the West that China will get it one way or the other! and all of it goes back to the importance of the economic ties..

actually northrop sued us for reverse engineering of-5 that's why we stopped azarakhsh project so we had to change the structure. about the other projects like ah-1j clone or bell-214s, their sub system is different obtained from other sources otherwise bell also sued us but international court rejected their lawsuit. about the russians, well we had issues with them too, you remember the s-300.

Honestly KSA will continue to lose support in USA. With shale oil Americans think they don't need KSA. KSA needs to send a message to Washington...don't over play your hand.

To the contrary of what the media are saying.. KSA has a huge support in the US..When a US president uses his veto power twice against Congress for the benefit of Saudi Arabia and for the best interests of the US..one can consider that a a great support.. And mind you..that Shale oil does not scare KSA.. the US is barely self sufficient now and that might go for another 10 years..not more..
