Saudi Arabia reduces tourist visa fee for India and rest of the world – but not Pakistan

• A Pakistani has to pay Rs0.1 million to Rs0.4 million for getting the tourist visa for KSA.

ISLAMABAD – The Saudi Arabia government has announced to soften its visa policy for India, and rest of the world, continuing the same old plan for Pakistan.

Providing relaxation in the visa for the citizens of European and other countries including India, the Saudi government reduced 90-day visit visa fee from 2,000 Riyal to 305 Riyal. Likewise, the fee has also reduced to 180 and 360 days visa.

However, Pakistanis tourists who pay Rs0.1 million to Rs0.4 million for Saudi visa would not be able to avail this opportunity as the policy remains the same.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry is yet to comment.

Last year, the Saudi government had decided to promote Hajj, Umrah, business and culture activities. The Arab country’s government also plans to build more visiting places across the kingdom.

According to the estimated figure, the Saudi government would spend 35 billion pounds on tourism till 2020. By 2030, around 30 million tourists are expected to visit Saudi Arabia annually.

The Saudi embassy in Pakistan was unavailable for comments despite repeated attempts.

probably because hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis visit saudi Arabia for hajj and umra ANYWAY...so no one really applies for a "tourist" visa from Pakistan to begin with.

I don't think mister mbs realizes how conservative saudi Arabia really is. There is clearly a fracture in the saudi society, ultra conservatives on one end and those who are sick of 'em. There is no middle ground in between. And top of that, there is a whopping 20% shia population in eastern KSA that is close to Iran that would be all too happy to mobilise them. The saudi future is not looking very peaceful unfortunately.
