Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz congratulated on Tuesday Haidar al-Abadi on being nominated Iraq’s prime minister-designate, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

“King Abdullah sent a communique to congratulate Haidar al-Abadi on being nominated the prime minister-designate of our brother country Iraq,” the state-run agency said.

“I wish to congratulate you on your nomination to the post of prime minister and I pray to God for your success and for him to help you re-establish cohesion among Iraq’s people and preserve the unity and stability of Iraq,” King Abdullah said in the message.

The Saudi leader said he wanted to see Iraq under the new prime minister "regain its rightful place in the Arab world and the Muslim world.”

According to the state-run agency, King Abdullah also sent communiques to Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim Jabouri and Iraqi President Fuad Masum.

In his message to Masum, King Abdullah congratulated him on his election to the presidency and for choosing Abadi to be prime minister.

Now KSA needs to do the needed. RSAF must team up with USAF and Iraqi AF, to lay waste to these swines. We will supply you with a crap load of Hijra'h cluster munitions as a gift. :D

Nope

Exactly as I thought, now Saudi Arabia is going to support Abbadi's government. Maliki is going to start a Militia, and the whole song and dance we have seen for the past 4 years will be played back again in slow motion. Isn't the middle east just great??

If Abbadi's government formally requests RSAF aid, I am certain that KSA will give it to them, otherwise if no such request is made RSAF will not participate. it will be against both Maliki and ISIS. After all, everything is falling exactly according to plan.

I am pretty sure that this new puppet is a sunni that is why KSA is opening up its arm for him. Sorry to be blunt but no one has screwed muslim world more than KSA.

Prime minister has direct control over 10k strong ISOF, question is whether fadl barwari military commander of ISOF will still side with former pm maliki or the new pm.

Which Prime Minister? Meaning the one with direct control. You have to clarify now, there's two.

He is actually Shia, and if he was Sunni is that considered "Screwing of Muslim world" to you?

Looks like Abadi is a moderate Shia and may not be sectarian like Maliki:

Iran is also supporting him, which is prudent for them, after the idiotic policy of supporting sectarian policies of Maliki:
Iran, US endorse Maliki successor Haider al-Abadi « Hot Air
Iran endorses Haider al-Abadi as Iraq’s new prime minister, spurning Nouri al-Maliki - The Washington Post

The bigger question is whether Abadi will be able to bring Kurds and Sunni's on board, while Peshmerga is in the process of getting fully armed supplied by the US and Sunni's also are armed, regardless of ISIS stays or not.

Any prime minister, the system is like that probably to avoid coups by generals.

3 'semi' independent armed forces

-ISOF ( like the former republican guard, being expanded to 30k)
-Army
-Police

hmm not really but the way KSA is acting it is too simple to understand that KSA as a country can go to any length (bloodshed in muslim world specially) to serve its or its master agenda.

@Mosamania

With Iran too backing the new PM, who exactly is going support Maliki's new militia?

He strikes me more like a vegetable vendor to me than a man capable of running an insurgency with no one to support him.

Best case scenario remains to have a tri nation airpower alliance to destroy ISIS, while the Iraqis do the ground work. Once they are smashed, the next target should be Assad.

They are inter-mixed with the Iraqi Sunni population. There is great danger of Sunni civilians being killed.

So, there must be another solution to drive them out of the civilian areas. Arab Sunni Iraq is not Waziristan. It is like Pakistani Punjab. Densely populated areas the size of KPK + FATA

Oh Thank God Iran gave support to Abbadi, I was actually relieved when I heard about the news, otherwise it would be a PM blood bath in Iraq with a Saudi-Iranian proxy war. Quite honestly Iraq doesn't need all this BS anymore.
