Saudi Arabia pledges continued support for Pakistani quake victims | Maverick Pakistanis
According to a news report published here on Saturday, the assurance was given by Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Abdul Aziz Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Ghadeer on Friday while dispatching a consignment of several truckloads of relief goods for the victims of earthquake in Awaran district of Balochistan.
According to daily ‘The News’, the Saudi envoy told the media that the next phase of assistance would be in the shape of construction of houses for the affected people of the area. He announced that the houses would be built in the same areas where the victims were already living. The new houses would be quake-proof and all basic facilities would be provided in such houses, he said.
The Saudi envoy is personally supervising the relief convoys being sent to all the quake-ravaged areas of Balochistan for expressing solidarity with the Pakistani people in this hour of trial. He said the security for the workers who would be providing assistance to the people of the area is the responsibility of the provincial government.
According to a press release issued by the Saudi embassy, Ambassador Al-Ghadeer met Special Assistant to the Pakistan Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Ambassador Tariq Fatemi on Friday. During the meeting, which took place at the Foreign Ministry, they reviewed the relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them in various fields.
Ambassador Fatemi said during the meeting that Pakistan attaches great importance to the fraternal ties with Saudi Arabia.
