Saudi Arabia patented Islam: Only the Salafists will be considered Muslims
With this in mind, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia has announced its intention to patent Islam with World Intellectual Property Organization and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. "Islam has undergone changes in recent years (Bidaa) that have nothing to do with the religion we sent our prophet," explained the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh Bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh. "We want this action by uniting the ummah and return to the original meaning of our religion," he continues, "now anyone other than practice an Islam Salafism will not be considered Muslim" he warns
To justify his coup d'religious state, Saudi Arabia relies on the exploitation of Islam by terrorist groups such as Al Qaeda or EI abuses that harm the image of Muslims in the world. Some say it is to cut the grass under the feet of the Iranian neighbor whose growing power increasingly concerned Saudi authorities.
Furthermore, the Minister of Islamic Affairs said that once the patent application validated, the issuance of "true Muslim" card will raise the sole responsibility of Saudi Arabia. To the question of what steps to take to get this card the minister said that the conditions and the card issuing terms have not been fixed yet.
