This is a dangerous game that Pakistan is playing. A mere $1.5 billion buys our favor for saudi war in Syria.

Why should we let the blood of Syrians when they have nothing against us and we have nothing against them? Its upsetting for me. Someone, someday will do the same with Pakistan. What will we do then? Pakistan hasn't learnt much from its secret jaunts with Saudi Arabia in the last three decades. We have become a centre of terrorism and a school of every wrong ideology thanks to this Saudi indoctrination and money

here is why i think this news is baseless propaganda:

a.) the Army themselves (Ministry of Def.) has catagorically denied inking deals to support rebels/jihadis in Syrian Nation

b.) do you really think the policy makers in Pakistan (granted - many of them are frauds and crooks) will be so STUPID to join this Syrian civil war directly or indirectly? In Afghanistan we did b/c what happens there affects us. Syria fight is a SYRIAN war. External meddling and the stupidity of the Syrian leader are mostly to blame for the chaos there.

Why in hell we should get involved in a civil war that has a lot of sectarian and ethnic agenda attached to it.

NOT OUR FIGHT
NOT OUR WAR!

Do you believe them?

I absolutely agree with your point that we must not, directly or indirectly, get involved in this. We have no fight with Syrians. And it will be heart breaking, honestly, to see our weapons being used to kill Syrians.

@airmarshal

A state for rent , an army for hire , that should explain it .

It does. This is what we have been doing since 80s. Taking Saudi money, their indoctrination and then creating a mess in our own country. All this for short term benefits. When we need money for each step of our, how can we even think of a long term we are created or have created in the past.

What we did in 80s' is all for us to see now.

Well That depends , do you believe the constantly propagated irrational and childish " GIFT money " explanation from the ruling party ? Love , gifts , free money , no strings attached , they sure they are doing International politics ?

Well , the result is in front of our eyes , terrorism , extremism , rampant Mullahcracy everywhere and a messed up country . If we haven't learned from it , then I believe we must be left to make the next blunder and sign our literal death warrants this time .

is this news true? what is going to happen to Pakistan China relations?
and if this news is true, it is a shame that a nuclear country sells it's foreign policy like that.... if Pakistan thinks that supplying weapons will end the war, that is WRONG, more weapons means more bloodshed... the best way to end this conflict to end arming F$A terrorists, and support the Syrian people war against terrorism...

All i can say to Pakistani brothers is be carefull, Erdogan sticked his nose in this and we lost several citizens.

Pakistan urges intensified push to end Syrian conflict

UNITED NATIONS, March 15 (APP): Pakistan has called for exit of all foreign forces from Syria, cessation of all hostilities, and ending supply of weapons to all sides as it urged intensified diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict in the Arab country. “The Syrian crisis should not be despatched to a back-burner; it should not be treated as a fixture of peace and security politics or a chronic conflict, Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Masood Khan said, according to diplomatic sources. He made the statement as the Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Joint Special Representative Lakhdar Brahimi briefed on Syria. “We agree with the shared determination of the Secretary General and Special Representative Lakhdar Brahimi that Syria constitutes the biggest peace and security and humanitarian crisis facing the world,” Ambassador Khan said.
The Permanent Representative noted that talks could not succeed if fierce military operations continued in parallel.
“Drivers of conflict have to be removed to create conditions for lasting peace in Syria. The evil pernicious trajectory of terrorism should not be underestimated. All foreign forces and elements must withdraw from Syria.
“Finally, we call for cessation of all hostilities, ending supply of weapons to all sides, and expansion of humanitarian access”.
He remarked that the assessment of the situation by the Secretary General and the joint envoy is sobering.
The killing spree continues, people are taking flight to escape the fury of the conflict that is entering into its fourth year, and those in their homes are not safe. Syria’s economy is devastated; terrorism is flourishing; and the Geneva talks are stalled. Syrian neighborhood is experiencing volatility and turbulence, he said.
The Security Council’s decisions and the efforts the Secretary General and Mr. Brahimi and the US and Russia have not ended the conflict and restored peace and stability in Syria.
There has been some progress in eliminating chemical weapons and easing humanitarian access. But the most lethal killings are being perpetrated by use of conventional weapons; and the sheer volume of the humanitarian plight is growing by the day.
As stated by the Secretary General and Mr. Brahimi today the myth of military victory has been shattered.
“The brunt of the Syrian conflict is being borne by Syrian civilians, men, women, and children - millions of them - who are not even a party to the conflict”.
Ambassador Khan observed that the international community should not wait; but it has for past three years, because its actions have had only limited impact.
The Government and opposition groups of Syria should not wait. They should step forward to stop further killing of Syrians by Syrians. Would the two sides start talking when another one hundred thousand Syrians have been killed.
“We call on the Syrian Government and Opposition to enter into result-oriented talks under the aegis of Mr. Brahimi. We also call for the resumption of the talks”.
“Let’s not forget that the holding of the two rounds of Geneva talks is an accomplishment in itself, although the process has not yielded any results so for. But it definitely has the potential to do so”.
“Implementation of the Geneva I Communique leading to political transition and national reconciliation should not be treated as a precondition, but the most desirable practical outcome.
“We also call on the Security Council to intensify efforts to resolve the conflict in Syria, despite its current difficulties. We hope that an understanding that was emerging, before the Geneva II talks, between countries who have influence with the Syria Government and opposition talks will be salvaged”.

Pakistan won't send arms to Syria: Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz informed the Senate's foreign affairs committee on Monday that Saudi Arabia had gifted USD 1.5 billion to Pakistan and added that the country would not send arms to Syria or to any other country undergoing a civil war, DawnNews reported.
Addressing a meeting of the Senate's standing committee on foreign affairs in the federal capital, Aziz said the donation of 1.5 billion dollars by Saudi Arabia was a “gift for the people of Pakistan which was deposited in the Friends of Pakistan fund.
Aziz was further quoted as saying that Pakistan would not send weapons to Syria or to any other country going through civil unrest.
While giving details of the Saudi sum received by Pakistan, the adviser said "the grant given by Saudi Arabia is unconditional and in return Pakistan is not supposed to give anything to the kingdom".
Aziz also confirmed the purchase of weapons by Saudi Arabia, however, he added that the kingdom would not use these weapons against any other state.
He further said Pakistan had to balance its relations with both Iran and Saudi Arabia adding that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would soon visit Iran for which dates are being worked out by both governments.
The adviser also said Pakistan had not changed its foreign policy due to foreign funding.
The committee was also briefed by Foreign secretary on the state of overseas Pakistanis in Jeddah and steps being taken for Pakistan consulate in Jeddah for the welfare of these Pakistanis.
Moreover, committee-member Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed of the Pakistan Muslim league - Quaid (PML-Q moved a resolution condemning the incidents of terrorism in China and also expressed solidarity with the neighbouring country.
Speculation had been rife in Pakistan following a sharp recovery of the Pakistani rupee value, which rose to a nine-month high of 97.40 from 105.40 against the dollar between March 4 and 12, its strongest rally in 30 years.
Reuters later reported that the climb in the rupee's value was a result of Saudi Arabia's $1.5 billion "loan" to Pakistan last month which helped Islamabad shore up its foreign exchange reserves, meet debt-service obligations and undertake large energy and infrastructure projects.
Some sections of society were talking about the aid being granted to Pakistan as a reward for the country's u-turn in its foreign policy over the Syria issue.
Clarifying the ‘rumours’ regarding the status of the donation, Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar said on March 15 that the amount was neither a loan nor was it given in return for any services.
The amount should be accepted with thanks and not be made controversial, he added.

This is a unique nuclear country that selss everything for a few dollars. We have a shamelss ruling 'elite'. Its not elites, its thugs actually.

I dont think it can happen though. There will be strong opposition to this. This ruling 'elite' loves free money. Who will give you $1.5 billion for nothing? We have been fooled before by their sanctimonious preaching. We cant be this time.

In real world, there is no GIFT money. This ruling 'elite' thinks it can fool us. But they have been very successful in fooling us. We are fools. We keep bringing the same people to rule our unfortunate country. The result is all to see.

Nonsense.

Anyway keep blaming all of your failures on KSA. It's very funny to witness indeed.

I hope thats true. If it is, then we must commend Pakistan. They realise that ending the conflict with political solution should be the main priority.
