Was this statue merely built as a tribute?
Or does it also have another function?
Because outside of India, not many people know Sardar Patel, so I would not count on revenue from international tourism.
Will people in India visit the statue and will it thereby contribute to an increase in domestic tourism in this region?
Because if not, no matter how great the man might be, it would be a waste of money.

1. It is primarily for Domestic Tourists. Its size will no doubt make it a significant piece after some time. It is the largest statue in the world after all.

2. Apart from the Statue, a visitor centre buildings, a memorial garden, a hotel, a convention centre, an amusement park, research centres and institutes are being built.

3. In any case, This is a great tribute to the man built on his soil and built using donation from the public. Gujarat govt. gave 600 crores and Union govt. gave 200 crores. Rest of it was by public funding.

But are their no statues of important historical Pakistani figures in Pakistan?
No statue of Jinnah?
How do you feel about those statues, if they exist?

Muslims dont build statues, we honour our heroes in other ways

They are more of an experts in destroying statues.
