NEW YORK: Sania Mirza is one win away from making the women's singles main draw of the US Open after scoring a straight-set win over Russian Elina Bovina in the second round of the qualifying event.

The Indian, ranked 160th, beat her opponent 10 places below her in WTA chart, 6-3, 6-3 in one hour and 19 minutes to advance to the third and final round.

Sania broke her rival twice in four chances and saved two break points on her own serve to go one set up.

In the second set, the Indian dropped her serve once but negated it by breaking Elena, who reached US Open quarterfinals in 2002, twice to clinch the issue.

She will next face Columbia's Catalina Castano, ranked 188th in the world.

Her low ranking forced Sania to go through the qualifiers of a Grand Slam for the first time after her breakthrough year at Australian Open in 2005.

Thanks jana ji for revealing ur true intentions!!!! I knew something was fishy when u posted a positive news on an Indian. It was not ur bharti bashing we normally see.. anyways after ur vhp babri fiasco u r just coming down one level by level.. and u say u r a journalist.... dear god

Yes sania was the bride??? i did not get you? her husband is in India right?

 So in India the son-in-law when visits occasionally, has become ghar jamai??

hehehe seems bhartis enjoys the ghar jamai status off an onn then.

Here in our country we call a man who lives in the house of his in-laws permanently. BUT ok for sake of Indian ego we consider him one for the time being.

So whats next? If Sania wins she is India if she lose she is Pakistani :partay:

Actually in India when a groom lives in the house of the bride that is considered humiliating for the groom to not been able to take care of her wife better than the parents.

When did i mince my words about ever ??

Lolz VHP fiasco when was that. I still stand by my words and i had sent the proof to your Indian member Grounder but somehow he opted to stay silent and did not post it.

anyway come back to sania mirza. The true face of Indians is unveiling here and there. You were the same people calling for banning Sania from playing on behalf of India and now you guys are changing your colours.
