Saladin & the 3rd Crusade - Horns of Hattin - Extra History - #1

.
.
Saladin was a force of nature, a humble slave of Khalid ibn waleed(RA)......

. . .
And he ended their dynasty in Egypt. The Fatimids were crazy people.

Check this out:
Bro you should read about the Safavid dynasty. They literally did Karbala with Sunnis and converted them to Shias(The sole reason why Iran is Shia today) but hey Sunnis are bad.

This video is a bit misinformation. The Safavid themselves were Sunni and the population of Iran were also sunni but what happened in 1602 is that the Sultan converted then he forced the populations to convert to shism that is how it happened. It was quite recent which means the Farsis did assist in all the muslim expansions until they became shia because being Shia didn't allow adventures they were more occupied in shrines and tombs. They became weak and lost influence in the islamic world were they previously had influence and a say in the geopolitics. At that point 2nd Islamic golden age had around like 100 years left before it started to fade away slowly. At that point Islam has been thru two golden ages and the Farsis played their part.

He wasn't a good military leader. Baybars and the like were much better and more successful.

Yes. Baybars had more success on the battlefield but Saladin faced all of Europe alone with 200.000 forces while they were in the 1-million range with Richard Lion heart he stopped their advance after Richard no real big or serious crusade came they lost all appetite which lead to good junk of Europe being conquered in the years later

Kinda true. But he is the more famous one and also known for his chivalry in battle. Richard Lionheart was a difficult opponent and only the internal struggle in England made him go home :S.

According to Islamic sources Richard didn't come alone he had other kings who came via Turkey but they lost alot because the Turks fought them on the road. Technically they had significiant numercial advantage which is not highlighted in the western sources but they do in the islamic sources. It was him against all the kings in Europe. Baybars was the better general however

Richard was reinforced with French/Germans/Hungarians who still wanted to go on crusade. For the Germans and Hungarians their King (Friedrich) had drowned so they marched back. The French King had changed his mind on the crusade and retreated to.

The Germans had not lost exactly they were the biggest force (Battle of Iconium). Some might even say that it was divine deliverance that caused the Germans to turn back for the most part with the death of Friedrich.

I know. Baybars had to fight the Mongols, a way more stronger enemy than the crusader states. The Mongols sold Baybars as slave to Mamlucks and were defeated by him later.

Battle of Ain Jalut:

As far as geenrals go besides Baybars and Khalid banu Walid. There are other great generals and legendary figures.

Tariq ibn Ziyad: Took all of spain, Portugal and southern part of France in only 7 years didn't lose one single battle.

Mehmet II: They call him father of conquests: Took Constantinople and alot of other countries such as Romania, Serbia, Albania, Croatia, Moldova, Bulgaria etc etc and many more.

Malik Kafur: This one will surprise you but his a brillant and underrated general in the Islamic world. He was a Marathi who converted to Islam he ran thru India all the way to Tamil Nadu crushing many larger armies in just 3 years Yadavas (1308), the Kakatiyas (1310), the Hoysalas (1311), and the Pandyas (1311) he basically ran over them at one go that is 4 kingdoms and defeated the mongols (1306) to such an extent they lost appetite for another adventure. He was gifted and probably had ridiculously high IQ. They called him 1000 gold coins and valued for his intelligence

Baybars was a billion times better than Saladin. Saladin was pious and Humble which even his sworn enemies can not deny. BUT he could have ended the crusades but due to poor judgment and hesitation in decision making would linger the crusades on.

Baybars is the Hero we don't Remember Sadly and its extremely sad that This Slave son of Egypt saved the Muslim world and protected the faithful. Though he was absolutely Harsh and Brutal on his enemies by practising scorched Earth policy but the peace that his actions brought lasted centuries.

I always maintain that in peacetime idolise Saladin but in War times idolise Baybars.
