Sachin Tendulkar Donates Relief Materials for Flood-Affected People in Jammu and Kashmir - Cricket News
Jammu: Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday came in support of people affected by the devastating floods in Jammu and Kashmir by donating truckloads of relief which consists of five tons of eatables and 1000 blankets apart from other important stuff, informed Jammu and Kashmir CA official Ranjeet Kalra.
The first consignment of two truckloads of relief material comprised of 400 water filters, which will supply clean drinking water to 10,000 people daily. Apart from that 100,000 chlorine tablets to purify water for 10,000 households for the next 3 months were sent. The consignment also included 5 tons of eatables (dry food and vegetables) apart from 1000 blankets.
The above items were received in Jammu by Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu.
IAS officer Shantmanu thanked Sachin on behalf of the government & Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and assured that the relief material shall soon be dispatched to various flood affected districts of the state.
Kalra, who co-ordinated Tendulkar's relief efforts in Jammu and Kashmir, while extending gratitude to the cricketer and the SAR group of companies for their generous help, hoped that this noble gesture shall inspire more and more people to come forward and extend their helping hand.
Kalra said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir shall never forget the concern and large-heartedness of Sachin who has come forward to share the pain of people of the state in these testing times.
