Well here we go again, the 18th SAARC meeting of heads of state every 18 months, what's the point? What has it achieved? Does it have any relivance anymore? Or is it about time to say enough of these photo opps and terminate it?

Agreed..just useless organization..every one has one aim as if India is the only problem for their state of affairs.. Better stop this farce of meeting..

Nearly thirty years of existance, and not one significant achievement. This is by far the least effective institute ever concieved. Time to let it die....The sooner the better.

SAARC should increase its members from East like Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia.

The south asian countrie have very litle in common with each other and most distrust each other to the core. It would be better to concentrate on more relevant organisations in their region.

Bangladesh should concentrate on integrating with ASEAN economies, Pakistan can concentrate on the middle east and central asia where it has more in common. India can concentrate on its regional relations with nepal and bhutan, these are far better options, then trying to stitch together nations with very little in common.

Malaysia and indonesia have no interest in joining SAARC, they have a thriving organisation in ASEAN. Bangladesh should work for greater integration with ASEAN countries, its a dynamic group of nations thats got far more to offer.

It would become functional and beneficial to its member states if bully India is taken out of it and China inducted.

Either Pakistan or India needs to withdraw from SAARC for it to work effectively, the two nations together is just counter productive. But given that India is a much stronger and bigger economy that Pakistan, and given that Pakistan has very little to offer to the other SAARC nations, its Pakistan which should withdraw from SAARC.

How about both leave and concentrate on their bilateral relation with their neighbours. Just by having pakistan leave, how would that help? SAARC is the most ineffective organisation ever setup bar none. As a Bangladeshi, i dont see any relevance to SAARC in south asia. Time to role it up an say bye bye...

It was actually BD idea to create an organization of its interests. BD has all here from which it can be beneficiary. Afghanistan and Pakistan has nothing to offer us. So we should concentrate to include Myanmar here. Also China can be an honorary member.

ASEAN is a different case. We should try our best to get a membership there.

The one's that don't see any relevance can withdraw unilaterally, there is no compulsion to stay .

SAARC is good platform for smaller countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives to interact with each other and with India.

It was a stupid idea to believe south asian nations have anything in common, its not like north america, europe or south east asia. Pakistan an india enemies, Bangladesh an Sri Lanka dont really trust india and Bangladesh and pakistan have unresolved history, recipie for disaster.

If Pakistan and Afghanistan have nothing to offer, what does india have to offer? Politicians dont really think things through logically.

What concrete benefits has ANY of these smaller countries got from interacting with india through SAARC?
