SAARC is not an economic forum, its not a defence pact, it is not research group. Looking back in the past, which event have taken place under SAARC?
- SAARC Games (Don't take place anymore)
- Cultural Exchange (Almost no events anymore)
- Exchange of opinions (Not so significant)
Pakistan is looking towards North and West of its country for all economic and military stability. In this respect, Afghanistan is the only country which Pakistan need to win-over. India and all other SAARC states do not contribute to our growth, economy or stability - and we lose nothing there.
Pakistan's future lies with its relationship with China, Iran and Turkey - leading to other central Asian countries and Europe. This is where Pakistan is working and is going very well. India on the other hand cannot by-pass Pakistan and it cannot reach any of the potential which lies in the West. It is trying to build Chah-Bahar hoping a route but that too cannot carry large ships. Even Iran is looking to use Gwadar port and build a road to Chah-Bahar, which explains how limited potential India has when it comes to West of Pakistan.
India is very welcome to drive SAARC and grow culturally and exchange opinions. Happy living there
