Even after 3 decades in the service, this ship is still the monster in the sea and absolutely beautiful even in the current standard. It was a showcase of Soviet's military technology. with a 24,000-ton full load, it can carry so many different weapons for different missions. Truly hoping China can build something like this in the next few years.

Kirov may look menace for fanboy in 2018 but its utterly outdated in current context with 80s fire control, radar and sensor. Wondering why there are so many sensors on the bridge structure? Becos each fire control is dedicated to one missile or one weapon system which utterly limit the combat speed and combat abilities. Let me make it more layman terms. It just like in the 90s, where you need a digital camera to do a camera job. A Nokia handphone to make call and send SMS. A mp3 player to listen music and a PSP handheld gamer to play games.

While 055 destroyer is a different class with its aegis style Chinese combat system with intergrated mast and S band AESA radar is just like a smartphone in the 2010s. You just need one smartphone to play game, make call, take photo, listen to music and read email. Plus the fact, it do it faster and more efficient.

055 destroyer system can handle multi targets and can launch and target as many enemies as it system can handle. It dont need a dedicated sensor to do a single job. Its intergrated mast can multi-task and handle more workload.... It propulsion system can draw more electrical power for future electric hungry system.

055 destroyer 112 silo of VLS amount is unrivaled even by US alreigh Burke destroyer. And each silo can handle multi type of missile unlike Kirov silo which can only handle the dedicated or one missile system.

Size do matter but 055 destroyer size adequate enough to handle kirov given it capacity to handle 112 vls silo. It stealthy shape will make it hard for kirov to find it on radar while kirov is like a big Xmas tree on radar given it's old design and many structure RCS contribution.

Kirov does not battle alone. It's always with Russia naval aviation planes like Su-30SM, Il-38N, frigates like Admiral Gorshkov, subs like Yasen and Kilo. Basically Kirov is a stand off range platform. It don't get in battles with ships.

Sorry, it no aircraft carrier. In fact， Russian original design is to make these a stand alone combat vessel. It is an ocean going design. It will not hug near the land for air cover. It will defeat it's purpose.

Like it or not kirov is outdated product. Only fanboy with no modern military knowledge will think kirov is some world beaters ship in today context.

too big for today's war environment, it is a good and valuable target for enemy (cause of symbolic importance). Probably cant go alone any place in war. one lucky SSM could turn it into metal scrap with thousand sailors. and yes
it is very powerful too.
