They are used for patrol duties on the frontline (Southern Theater Command) but when things get tough, they've got more capable birds backing them up.

From Chinese perspective, it would be interesting to see if any of the systems in American position is also used by other aircrafts in Chinese inventory. After all, J-20 will not be the only fighter that Chinese will field in any potential conflict.
