MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s SVR Foreign Intelligence Service said on Monday that the current situation around Ukraine was reminiscent of the lead-up to the war in Georgia in 2008, the Interfax news agency reported.

The Russian rouble fell on the comment, which comes amid concern by Ukraine, the United States and NATO over Russian troop movements near Ukraine. Moscow has dismissed reports that it might be poised to attack Ukraine as inflammatory.

Russia comprehensively defeated Georgia in a short war in 2008 and around one-fifth of Georgia’s territory remains garrisoned by Russian troops.

Referring to the current tensions in Ukraine, the SVR said: “We observed a similar situation in Georgia ahead of the events in 2008.”

It said Georgia’s then-president Mikheil Saakashvili had “paid a high price” in that war.

Interesting.. I doubt the January-Febaury deadline will be realized. Russia could call their bluff or fold themselves but either way there was drills in Estonia Yesterday and Today and by the way a country labelled by the Americans themselves as in the suburbs of St.Petersbourg it is that close to ST.P.. Estonia is an artificial country and only exists as NATO base most people just decide to migrate and it is the country that sees must immigration meaning it is basically artificial at this point.

It is a country the size of Denmark and has only 1mio and that number itself could be inflated meaning their real numbers could be somewhere around 400-500k where majority of them are just NATO personale and their families who are deployed there including some old local villagers the remaining youth leave the country as soon as they hit teenage years to never return again
