I think it had more of a political message rather than actual military importance. The fact that the missiles were launched from Caspian sea, flew over Iran and Iraq to Syria, has a message of a much closer military cooperation between 4 countries, otherwise, Russians could easily launch them from their vessels in Mediterranean sea near Syrian coast, and it wouldn't even need long range and very expensive cruise missiles.

Citizens of Iranian city of Astara in Caspian coast reported they heard a loud noise early in the morning, which was most probably the Russian missiles.


@cabatli_53 As you know, Iran's western regions are very mountainous, do you think the Russian cruise missiles fix their altitude instantly based on land topography? Otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to pass Iran's territory considering the flight altitude of cruise missiles which is usually less than 100 meters. Am I right?

There are few big economies like China, Brazil, India who will never allow West sanctions on both these countries.

Yes, they certainly asked before launching them, not only Iran, but also Iraq. Russian DM also declared it:

The missile attacks came from Russia’s fleet in the Caspian Sea, which borders Russia, Iran and three other littoral countries. The precision weapons hit all intended targets. The attacks required cooperation from Iran and Iraq, as the missiles had to travel through their airspace to reach Syria.

The Russian Defense Ministry said it had worked with its partners to plan the flight path so that the missiles traveled only over desolate areas and didn’t pose any danger to civilians.

I don't think that works only by knowing cartography. Cartography of all areas on earth are now available all thanks to advanced satellites. The missile should have a mechanism to pass mountains and and natural land terrain. There is a huge +3000m mountain range in the path of the missiles. The most reasonable scenario is auto correction of missile altitude I suppose.

Friend, most gas power plants in Türkiye stopped working cause they are too expensive. Some are dismantled and sold to far East.

Turkey should keep out of harms way and don't start conflicting with Russia in Syria. We are currently developing a strong defence industry, we can under no circumstances risk it because of Syria. Our strategy of delay when it comes to realpolitik should be prioritized, there will come a time when we are powerful enough to be more assertive, the time is not now! We can't count on NATO to have our backs, when it comes to national interest we can only count on ourselves.
