Grounds to believe Turkey planning military invasion in Syria - Russian military

Developments on the Turkish-Syrian border give serious grounds to suspect that Ankara is planning a military invasion in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

“We have serious grounds to suspect intensive preparations by Turkey for a military invasion on the territory of the sovereign state of Syria,” Major General Igor Konashenkov, Defense Ministry spokesman, told journalists.

“We are recording more and more signs of concealed preparations by the Turkish military,” he added.

The spokesman reminded that Moscow had previously provided the international community with irrefutable video evidence of Turkish artillery firing on Syrian populated areas in the north of Latakia Province.

But they somehow forgat to mention the starvation of entire cities full with innocent people and the continues bombing of residential civilian places in the last couple years. Damn these people are hypocrites to their very core.

This is a big gamble by Erdogan. Turks are the only Mongolian people in the ME. And it has a big occupied Kurdish part. If Erdogan is not careful, Russia and Greece would take back Istanbul back into Constantinople and the Kurds would have statehood.

The activies of the military and the rumors seems to be indicating the obvious, the Turkish armed forces are preparing to establish a safe zone in northern Syria.

Russia can't take on Turkey in Syria alone. It's only bet is if NATO denounces Turkish moves. Most likely Turkey will make buffer zone in the area. Worst case scenario is Saudi Arabia-Turkey construct no fly zone in Aleppo or something along those lines.

I'd like to know how truthful the Russian military is being, or are they just over exaggerating for propaganda purposes.

I can't say about other point but enforcing a No-FLY zone on syria(or part of) will be quite difficult because of a no. participants.

I'd like to know how truthful the Russian military is being, or are they just over exaggerating for propaganda purposes.

The Russian military is no joking matter, they are very capable and powerfull. But this is simply based on the fact they are crippled in their ability to use them to their full extent, while we are bordering Syria, Russia is using supply routes which Turkey can easely disrupt. Turkey can defeat Russia in Syria simply based on this fact. Russia is powerfull, but not as capable as the US by a long shot.
