After Defence minister Manohar Parrikar hinted that if Rafale deals collapses India might go for additional Su-30 aircrafts which are already build in country by HAL . Russian tabloid news agencies are taking pot-shots at France over possible collapse of Rafale Deal.

Still engaged in deadlock over deliveries of two Mistral-class helicopter carriers France had built for Moscow due to Ukraine conflict , Russia had warned France its failure to act on a bilateral contract to deliver warships ordered by Moscow poses risk to Paris’ reputation has reliable weapons suppliers .

Rafale will have hard time taking on two squadrons of the latest Su-35 Super Flanker that Russia has cleared for sale to China said one new agencies .Another media house said that Rafale deal is threatening to blow a gaping hole in India’s overstretched defence budget which has ballooned from Originally pegged at $10 billion, size of the deal has climbed to a stratospheric $30 billion.

Alexander Kadakin, Russia’s ambassador in India few months back had said that Chinese-made Sukhoi-27s would be able to swat the Rafales like “mosquitoes on an August night.” Few media houses in Russia in past had warned France that India will cancel Rafale Deal under pressure from Russia , But Defence minister Manohar Parrikar later clarified that negotiation are still on with France .

Some Russian Defence Experts have been urging Russian officials to offer Su-35 or Super Su-30s to India to bag the deal . idrw.org can confirm that if the deal collapses with France their will not be any backdoor entry for Euro fighter since contract will not allow such deal to take place and it is unlikely India will re-issue tenders again , Saab’s Gripen and its supporters are likely to make greater pitch for Gripen to India .

Chairman of Saab India, Lars-Olof Lindgren had said few months back , that company has been quietly working on a plan to build the Gripen in India and has already done a lot of the homework for it and offered ‘real transfer of technology’ in its proposition to build the Gripen in India.

Lets just hope some call is taken on the deal in first half of 2015, either to sign the deal or say quits.
& more the negotiations continue, the more it gives an impression that cost of the deal isn't a roadblock. Had it been, India would've reduced the order quantity and signed. Its more of technical issues (ToT, HAL's role etc that have been discussed in great details earlier) and with news that France is deputing some empowered authority (whatever it means) for negotiations also indicates that not much is left and the end (of negotiations) might be in sight.

$ 30 billion is the same amount of money we will be putting in for FGFA which is a full blown generation ahead of Rafale. For that money, I don't know what the French are whining about. Either they accept all the conditions of the buyer or we simply get more modernized MKIs.

But if we have to make up our mind on light and heavy aircraft, we can split $ 30 billion 50-50 and channel those funds for Tejas Mk2s and enhanced MKIs for $15 billion each category. That will send Tejas's fortunes going sky high.

30 billion dollars? For a 4.5generation fighter is a waste. Aside AESA TOT, I dont know what we are going to get more from rafale.. we will get AESA TOT through FGFA also, then whats the significance in having rafale? Wise decision is to go for more su30s... we dont have simply extra bucks to spend on rafale, if we have then we should invest on AMCA and tejas variants not on rafale..

India must have taken wise decision in past and have selected Mig35 instead of Rafale.
But now its over.............. Its Rafale or No Rafale now...............Su30MKI has its own class and Rafale has its own. I wonder how they will full fill the role of each other

Russia media should stop spreading rumours about China‘s purchase of Su-35s till the Chinese MOD confirms the deal，even though I am all for the aircrafts simply to speed up the phasing-out of the numerous old J-7s and J-8s in service。

See much of that money will have to be reinvested in India as per the contract terms and the PAK-FA is a heavy class fighter like the MKI. The Rafale is far lighter and can take on the role of A2G thus replacing the Jaguars in the future. Access to western technology is another reason why we went for the tender route as we did not want to put all our eggs in one basket.

they need mmrca because there active squardrans are shrinking they cant wait for another 5 years just like china cant wait for another 5 years to induct j20
each type of aircraft has its own function stealth limits the payload so no airforce would want only 5th gen fighter
