So Lets Say We Ditched Russians By Buying Us Weapons. So What Makes Pakistan So different Eventually US is More Involved in Pakistan Than Any other Nation Best Eg is Your Cheif General Raheel Shariff was Boot-licking US Authorities While Russian Defense Minister Was in Islamabad you Don,t think Russian Know that.Even though you curse them so much you still taking (Us Military Aid ).You think Russians are fools Keep ready for *** burning during Putin Visit

No one here gives a damn about getting a deal from Russia, because it's just an arms deal. But the Indian response is so entertaining, everyone here enjoys pointing out how Russia lifted their arms embargo and began trading with us, ignoring how "deeply upset" India was.
"B-but Modi-Ji is supa pawa ancient Indian Aryan leader! Pakistan is tourists country!"
Go chase a toilet, Pranav. No one wants to hear you ranting.

I wonder if people are over analyzing a lot of Russian actions. Russia wants to sell as many weapons to as many countries as it can and in the case of the recent Russian-Pak helicopter deal, the technology isn't really a game changer in the region or a threat to India. I bet if anything, India was pretty much ok with it. It's not like Pak picked up several Su-35's. Russia isolated a bit from the west is probably forced to ally with China more and more and so sees friendlier relations with Pak as a net positive in the Russian-Chinese cooperation. Just like India can be a good and loyal friend to Russia while improving relations with the USA, Russia probably feels it can't hurt to improve relations with Pakistan a bit. The defense agreement between the two is probably just to facilitate arms sales, and lacks any real substance.

So Putin sends his junior assistant aka defence minister to Pakistan but himself chooses to visit India and does not bother to step in Pakistan.

Which is still something which deeply disturbed the Indians, who collectively clutched their hearts in terror.

Ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to New Delhi, India on Wednesday termed as "significant" the first-ever visit of Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu to Pakistan during which they signed a defence cooperation pact.

"The first-ever visit by the Russian defence minister to Pakistan is obviously significant... India has noted that Russia like other countries have chosen to progress defence cooperation with our neighbour," Official Spokesperson in the External Affairs Minister Syed Akbaruddin said. He, however, said India does not want to comment on the relationship between two other countries and emphasised that India-Russia ties were vibrant.

India and Russia have "special and privileged" strategic partnership which was unique and multi-dimensional in the widest possible areas including defence cooperation, he said.

"We share common views on several global and regional issues. We are looking forward to Putin's visit next week," the Spokesperson said, adding that a "warm welcome awaits" the Russian President.

Last month, Shoigu paid a day-long visit to Pakistan during which he met Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed several issues related to security and defence cooperation between Russia and Pakistan. The two countries inked an important pact on defence cooperation.

Although, Russia has always maintained that it will not sell arms to Pakistan, the development is seen as Moscow's attempt to capture the growing demand of that country for weapons and other hardware.
Earlier this year, Russia concluded a deal to supply Mi- 35 'Hind E' attack helicopters to Pakistan, putting New Delhi's defence links with Moscow under strain.

The Chinese angle is being forgotten here, they have actively pushed the Ruskies - to this stage, they want their best ally Pakistan, to get better relations with their aspiring ally Russia.

As it is going to affect us.....

See ....this is probably Russia's reaction bcuz we r now looking for other options and reducing our dependence on a particular country in arms imports
So.....it's obvious we have got options

But then again.....this news is overhyped
Pakistan can't offer anything to Russia.....neither the strategic alliance is going to give a boost to the already existing China Russia nexus nor Pakistan has the hard cash........
even the mki upgrades are going to be costlier than the deals Pakistan is currently having with Russia......

So.....just grab some :pop: and enjoy the tamasha

I think that we simplifying this issue too much..World has changed from 1990 to 2015....In this current geopolitical situation, the intrests of Russia and Pakistan converge more than India and Russia..To be honest...off late, India and Russia does not have any statergic relationship apart from the transactional relationship of buying arms between 2 nations..So i feel that it might happen that Russia may go for some small arms sale to Pakistan to pressurize India..So it depends on us how do we react maturely to this situation.. I feel that rather than reacting too much India should continue to diversify its arms procurement and innovation process away from Russia...We are too much dependant in Russia for our defence needs which needs to be stopped.

May be am wrong but this seems like a good move by Russians, I think the visit to Pakistan had less to do with Pakistan and more to do with waking up India before Putin's visit. Expect more deals in defense/other fields during his visit to India.

India don't want Pakistan & Russia friendship to grow. Specially with Defence deals happening with Russia, India is crying some where in the corner with fear.

on PDF they are crying Openly

after this deal, what really Pak will get by selecting Russian weapons at that when there is multi-dimentional war between Russia and NATO countries.
Will this not effect Pak relation with Western countries, whom Pak is dependent for Economic and military aid?

This is what Indians can't understand, that Russia can afford to lose India but they can't afford to lose China as they offer much bigger deals and benefits to them and China is pushing Russia to improve relations with Pakistan.

.
Time to nip this poisonous relationship in the bud.

Let pak buy Chinese not upgrade to Russian

I still believe .. we are at least a decade away from that period when the Russians start getting cosy with Pakistan.....
I agree with the last line though
