From February 1st according to the combat training plan of the Land Forces, 202th brigade began training exercises with conscripts of the new draft with the full compliment of vehicles crew. During our visit we could see the work of the crews of different components of air defence missile system S-300V.

The personnel demonstrated the exercises for transloading operation between Transporter erector launcher and radar (TELAR) and Transporter erector launcher and transloader (TEL/Transloader).

In addition, we could visit the position of the battery on real combat duty for the defence of Moscow air space.

The 202th Russian Air Defence Brigade is one of the few units in Land Forces, which spends several months a year at the training grounds in almost at full strength. Thus, almost every conscript serving in the brigade, produces 1 or 2 combat launches for their conscript service for 1 year.

This was achieved not only by a single training level of each soldier, but also to the group training level of crews and units.

The history of the Brigade

The Russian 202th Brigade leads its history from 472nd Air Defence Artillery Regiment, that was formed in 1948 in accordance with the directive of the General Staff of the USSR in Grodno, Belarus. The first commander of the regiment was appointed lieutenant-colonel Shumilov P.A. March 29 was set as a day of the unit, and in May 1950 Regiment received the Combat Banner. During this period, the Regiment was armed with anti-aircraft artillery system S-60. In 1958, the regiment was redeployed to Baranovichi, Belarus.
In February 1963 Regiment was re-equipped with new air defence missile systems S-75M Volkhov and then redeployed to Magdeburg in East Germany. Magdeburg became a place of deployment for the Regiment for the next 28 years.

In August 1974 the Regiment was re-equipped with air defence missile system 2K11 Krug and received current designation 202th Air Defence Brigade.

New air defence missile system S-300V was adopted for the Army in 1988. After the retraining of personnel in 1989 the Brigade started to receive S-300V system.

In May 1991, in accordance with the decision on the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Germany, the Brigade was redeployed to the city Naro-Fominsk in Moscow region, and shared the base with 4th Guards Kantemirovskaya Tank Division. Since redeployment to Naro-Fominsk 202th Brigade was subordinated to Moscow Military District, and later, in September 2010, to Western Military District.

In accordance with the directive of the General Staff of Armed Forces 202th Brigade received the constant-ready unit status. This places additional responsibility on the personnel and high demands on the level of combat training.

Currently, there are plans to rearm the Brigade with latest S-400 air defence missile system.

The S-300V 9K81 (NATO code SA-12 Gladiator/Giant) is a Russian-made air defense missile system mounted on tracked armoured vehicle. The S-300V is designed and manufactured by the Russian Defence Company Antey. The V suffix is used for Voyska (Ground forces).

S-300V SAM system was designed to engage aircrafts, combat helicopters, cruise and ballistic missiles.

Our visit started with an introduction of Group of command and control. There are located the basic means of radar and control.

Brigade command and control post is a part of Polyana-D4 command and control system.

1L13 Nebo-SV VHF-band early warning and acquisition radar and 9S15M Obzor-3 acquisition radar usually located not far from command post to provide information on air situation, detection and tracking of targets.

I really don't know why Pakistan is not working with Russian on buying the S-400s or the S-500s in near future....

. .
Pakistan should have chosen its friends a little sensibly

.
coz India won't allow it

I believe India has lost that liberty after she sold her soul to America. Pakistan should seek S-400 or S-500. Even BD should seek S-400 with the US$ 850 mlln credit line offered by Russia.

Since when? Their FGFA program along with many others are worth a lot of money.

It is estimated that 1 Battery of S-400 will cost $1 Billion and consist of 8 Command Moduals, 8 Target trackers, 8 Laser Illuminaters, and 4 missiles each which will be a total of 32 Missiles.

How will a $850 million credit going to buy even a handful of units? And besides, Russia probably won't be exporting the S-400 for sometime.

Please don't spread nonsense.
