Yakovlev Yak-152 trainer aircraft
Russian Aviation Monday.
Russia plans start serial production of the Yakovlev Yak-152 primary training aircraft in March 2017.
"The trainer is planned to perform its debut flight within the next two months. After that, it is expected to undergo trials and prove its inherent characteristics to be serial-produced," Russian Aerospace Force Commander-in-Chief Viktor Bondarev was quoted as saying byRussian Aviation Monday.
"The serial production of this plane is expected to start in March 2017. We should do this and I believe that industrial enterprises will do this," he said. It was reported earlier that the Russian Defense Ministry was planning to purchase about 150 Yak-152 trainers for the Aerospace Force. In 2013, the Defense Ministry financed R&D work on primary training aircraft. The Russian Defense Ministry needs new primary training aircraft to service a rapidly growing cadet flight training program. The new aircraft is expected to be actively used to train cadets of both the Aerospace Force and the DOSAAF Voluntary Society for Cooperation with the Army, Aviation and Fleet. The Yak-152 aircraft will also allow practicing aerobatic maneuvers and navigation in addition to basic flight training. The trainer can be furnished with a diesel engine working on aviation kerosene to reduce operational costs and enhance the aircraft’s performance.
