Russia & India to bolster military ties
Russia is due to win another Indian order for 59 multi-purpose helicopters in addition to the 80 ordered earlier, something that will retain Moscow's traditionally dominant lead in selling military aircraft to India, the Indian Air Force chief has said.
In an interview with the India Strategic Defence magazine on Thursday, Marshal Pradip Vasant Naik explained that the delivery of the first lot of 80 Mi-17 helicopters, ordered in 2008, would begin from later this year.
He added that an estimated 20 billon dollars worth of contracts have been signed by Russian and Indian defence companies over the past seven months.
