What's new

Russia has offered to jointly produce the 100-seater Sukhoi Superjet airliner in India.

These are the those you can here and there. But there are many technologies shared by Russia under the table which no one can.

Just an example - indian made the nuclear submarine, have you ever thought, how?

We can not make a disel submarine but able to build, nuclear. Isn't surprising for you?.... There are many more which are not available at public knowledge
Indian nuclear industry, nuclear powered submarines, tanks, jets, supersonic missiles most of them have been co-developed or bought from USSR and then Russia. We would be discrediting Russia if we say they are of no importance to India tbh. Whatever the west offers us now the soviets had our backs in the cold war era.
Russia largely inherited the USSR's legacy and debts so it's fair to treat them on the same pedestal as USSR.
USSR supported us ideologically and as an bulwark to China and the US, Russia and India meanwhile have an more of a mutual benefit relationship.
Russia backs us on the UN table, sells us advanced weapons and we in turn fund their economy by buying their warmachines.
Well our space industry was successful largely due to the help of the soviets and then Russians.
But now we have more "partners" on the global stage and world's polarity makes things a little difficult.

It is true that the Russians helped (in return for $$) with the Arihant project ( and other projects). However, this was basically an indigenous project and not one where an existing Russian design and all the technology was just handed over to India.

The reason for focussing limited resources on building a nuclear instead of a diesel submarine seems simple to me. No one, including Russia, will sell India a nuclear submarine ( even the INS Chakra was only on a 10 year lease) whereas the easy availability of diesel submarines makes it cheaper to buy then rather than invest a lot of resources in developing a completely new design.

I agreed, during the time period we are able to established a trusted relationship between Russia and India.

It not happened over a night as many people think that India can moved to West camp and dump Russia.

Most of the times, Russia and India always avoid to hamper each other sentimental.

Okay, who else will give you technology for nuclear submarine if you even pay the dollars?

I am even not started talking about ISRO, here. ... Just hinting 2nd .... There are countless actually, that no other country was ready provide to India.

No one will give it. It has to be developed indigenously/copied/stolen using whatever means you have at your disposal. Did anyone give India or Pakistan the technology to build their nuclear bombs ?

Tell me if a war starts , which weapons u think will never be sanctioned ? Only this assurance is worth the gold.
U seems to be talking like pak when comes to international relations. It is more harmful to keep changing friends, instead it's better to have 1 or 2 deep relations and have good relations with others.

And India is doing just that. Its not Indian marriage, where every relative will show off the gifts they r giving. India russia both help each other under the table, Russia helps way more, we help help mainly in money dept only. But if u know abt a help given to india in news , its not even worthwhile to talk abt lol

You said, Sanctioned..... Suddenly came INS jalashwa likewise Paf f16 lol..

need permission from the uncle SAM if you want to use in war else ready for sanctions if you used it without.. :-)

I couldn't understand what you were trying to convey, but I am quite certain that if war breaks out between India and China, it is the United States and Europe and not Putin's Russia who will come to India's aid. In fact, given Putin's severe dependence on China, Russia will likely be aiding China covertly.

And many Indians don't seem to understand this, they are still living in the illusion of russia bring India's best friend, We are more distrustful of the west than Russia even though both are equally bad.

It is true that both Russia and West will act in their own interest. It is just that at this point of time, the West 's strategic interests are more closely aligned with India than with China or Pakistan. So, in their own interest, they will support India in a conflict against these countries - just like they will support Saudis against Iran, even though Iran is more of a democracy.

Similarly, India has more to gain with allying with the West than with a declining authoritarian regime in Moscow. Russia is now so weak that it can't help even its treaty allies like Armenia, with which it shares a common border, while Azerbaijan takes its territory. In fact, Russia is being forced to buy supplies from powers like North Korea and Iran even to fight in Ukraine.

If the Soviets supported India in 1971, it was because the two countries had a mutual defence treaty at that time, India had a socialist government, Pakistan was a member of SEATO and CENTO and the Sino Soviet split was firmly entrenched ( in fact Pakistan was facilitating a secret rapprochement between US and China). Moreover, the Soviet Union was a comparable military power to the United States with all of the resources of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe unders its control and major allies all over the world. The situation today is very different.

He is a troll. Put him on ignore list.
Nah I'm just trolling back

One would think that an "allegedly" Holocausted people who claims that they faced genocide and human rights violations would never do the same thing with other people but here everyone can see the jewy chimps doing exactly the same thing with Palestinians they claim to be victim of! Maybe holocaust never happened and jews deserve to be gased properly for their actions.
Probably because "Palestinians" are its cause

Wish we harmed them more than we do now, it's not nearly enough. Those "people" convinced Hitler not to go with the Haavara agreement and convinced him to go with the final solution.

Well, they offering the Superjet, they are offering the CHeckMate, they are offering the same with the T-14 Armata and submarines ... and all this shows, they have no money, they see no market and try to milk India as much as possible to let them pay!

That's all ... so for India it is indeed a difficult situation since it could offer a relatively "cheap" opportunity to get access to Russia's latest technology - if they are not just ripped off by Russia, as is so often the case - while at the same time a shift towards Russia would instantly kill any further access of the latest Western technology.

So, it will be interesting to see, what India will do.

It is a decision point for India - but given the decline of Russia's military industrial complex in general, and what will now be lack of sales, forcing a commercial death for what remains of Russia's military indujstry - it would be brave (and silly) decision to go to Russia for new systems for India.

Right now - the only thing India needs is the ability to design modern fighter jet engines - and it depends on how much ToT they get for the GE 404/414's that look set to be manufactured in India for their Tejas and AMCA programmes. ( https://www.tbsnews.net/world/globa...-jet-engines-set-be-manufactured-india-577654 ). I am still not sure what 100% ToT means in real terms as the definition of ToT itself is unknown ...

Americans are keen to break India away from Russia and may just offer the full set of crown jewels that is the GE 404/414 with everything that the Indians want ....

From a software, computing, avionics and EW perspective - India has done enough now to have actually surpassed Russia. They have some level of experience in being able to design an airframe with Tejas - so it really dependes if they can pull off Tejas 2 / TEDBF and then AMCA - if they can - then there is no need for Russia anymore ( assuming 414 engines work out for ToT ).

The recent announcements by Russia are pure desperation - nothing more - they can see the writing on the wall. First they lost China as a large customer, and it seems, now they will lose India.

The future is not bright for Russia's ability to make weapons in the future and that can only be a good thing for the civilised world.

While it is true that there have been technical collaborations and technology transfers from the former Soviet Union and Russia, it is disconcerting that some individuals deliberately fail to acknowledge the contributions made by our own scientists who have devoted their entire lives to the development of critical technologies in our country. If the foreign assistance was as instrumental as some claim, we would have seen significant advancements in areas such as jet turbine engines rather than nuclear submarines whose technology was transferred. Such intentional oversights not only disrespect the hard work and dedication of our indigenous researchers but also undermine the importance of investing in our national scientific community.
