You need to define freedom. You don't have the Western style freedom in China to vote and change governments, but you have the freedom for education and to pursue happiness, nobody is stopping you. The CCP just don't want you to do a regime change, yes China is a nationalistic autocracy, but US is not that good either, it is basically a corpotocracy, you elect leaders thinking they would serve you but instead they serve the elites. The system is actually similar if you think about it, the difference is US gives you an illusion of choice.

Now Taiwan is actually a truer democracy than US but too bad its our territory. You think their living standards will drop? Probably they wil get better infrastructure and education. It's about the bread and butter, China learnt this lesson long ago. Provide the mullah, nobody would complain. Living standards in tier 1 cities in China is probably higher than Taiwan.

But do you not think that the relative difference in power between Taiwan and China makes it impossible for the Taiwanese to keep their freedom even if they earnestly fight for it? Or do you think those who are not strong enough to protect their freedom do not deserve it in the first place?
