It's been a long time coming. Laid down in 2006. Commissioned today. A dozen years in the making. Delayed by a year due to Ukraine embargo of engine replaced by Russia made engine from NPO Saturn.

Why would they? Russia made engines are way better than Ukraine made engines. Ukraine made engines are 1980s. Russia made engines are state of the art.

Don't need carriers. Russia only opponent is Qaeda fags. Russia ships and subs shoot Kalibr cruise missiles range 2500 km. Plenty enough range to strike anywhere in Syria from off the Syria coast.

The newest Russia navy ships are actually quite small but packs a punch.
