Russia and Saudi Arabia form alliance against insurgents in Syria

ME situation is one big messed up khichdi. Don't know who is on which side anymore. On one hand you have the West & Arabs supporting & training anti-Asad rebels... & Russia is bombing hell out of the same rebels. & now Russia is in alliance with Saudi, which is still a certified US ally in ME.

Saudi Arabia is not an ally of the US. Saudi Arabia is pro Palestine and Saudi Arabia has not and will never recognize Israel.

With whose blessings are these Al Sauds ruling KSA ? Don't tell they are ruling it with wish of its people. One who has fucked up a lively country by funding up extremists for 4 straight years, one who has blood of 4 lakh syrians in his hand is going to fight against the menace he created in the first place.

Don't call me by names know I write against Iran as well and against sunnis and shias of my own country also. Kind of people we have over here I want to say I am not AHmedi as well :)

Cooperation doesn't equal an alliance, though I don't expect any better from Superboy:disagree:.

China and the US agreed to cooperation on a code-of-conduct in the SCS... are they now allied? Japan and North Korea agreed to cooperation on returning Japanese war dead to Japan... last I checked they still hated each other. The US and Russia agreed to denuclearize Ukraine following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the proliferation of fissile materials... how are their relations again?

The US and Russia even agreed to cooperate in the WoT! Again, how are their relations despite some on-again, off-again low-level cooperation? Not so good if recent public events are any gauge (I suspect less vitriolic behind-closed-doors relations though).

They agreed to cooperate, which is good, perhaps they can manage to avoid further escalations, but they aren't in an alliance. I don't expect any radical policy changes from either side.

Problems will come very fast to all countries in Мiddle Еast .
Why ?
Because battlefield is a mix of fighters with different ideologies and with time they will become powerful factor who will not serve to their masters.
Than will be the real hell because they are not regular army and they have experience of fighting in urban terrains and in open field.
Most of them have PTSD ,what turns them into killing machines.

Honestly i have lost the count and picture about who is fighting against whom, and who is allying with whom.

Seriously man.. Seriously fu*ked up..
I've had a theory about this for some time though. Just like Europe was tumultuous during the Dark Ages and till Reformation and Renaissance under the clutches of barbarism and the horrible practices of the Catholic church, So is the middle east.

It's been around the same time period also.. About 1400 years for both religions.. It's change that leads to conflict and upheavals etc. Change will come surely but slowly I guess and then we might see something like a mini Renaissance.

Two countries can ally on an issue regardless of other factors. Iran and Saudi Arabia both back Palestine against Israel even though they do not see eye to eye in many other issues.

That is how Fu$ked up the ME is...

It's time to make a fusion that is consisting of arak, vodka and khat and call it a day.

I don't bother anymore, lol.

We might as well make up with the Mullah's while we are at it. After all many of them are of Arab descent or claim to be so.

Would China be interested in a personal union with the GCC? Western/Russian involvement in the ME won't get us anywhere it seems.

With the current Arab rulers/regimes in place I don't see an Arab Union comparable to the European Union forming anytime soon although that would be something historic and solve a lot of problems combined with a joint Arab Army (regional Arab "NATO-like" organization). Governed by democratic states. Still a few decades away from occurring though. In the meantime let's join hands with China especially if that will mean more Chinese buffets in the GCC.

I am counting for an invitation @ultron .

55 Saudi religious scholars signed a statement against the Russian intervention, first addressing the Russians as "Oh Russians, oh extremist people of the Cross", reminding them of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and addressing the Orthodox Russia as the heir of the Soviet Communists, accusing them of "supporting the Nusyari regime" and invading "Muslim Syria", accusing the leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church of declaring a "Crusade" and telling them they will meet the fate of the Soviet Union and suffer "a shameful defeat in the Levant" as what happened in Afghanistan. The statement also addressed "Our people in the Levant", telling able-bodied and people who are able to contribute to join the "Jihad" instead of emigrating. The statement also called for all factions against the government in Syria to unite; the statement addressed "Arab and Muslim countries", telling them that there is a "real war against Sunnis and their countries and identity" at the hands of the "Western-Russian and Safavid and Nusayri alliance", calling for the termination of all relations with Iran and Russia with Muslim countries and to "protect the land and people of the Levant from the influence of the Persians and Russians

Those are all largely irrelevant people. Over half of them have been jailed and the other half have lived or live in exile. None are official clerics. Nobody but the pro-ISIS segment listens to them.

55 clerics out of 1000's upon 1000's of clerics. Big deal.

If the King decides something most people will follow it. He has supreme power. Only the most idealistic ones will oppose it. The Syrian conflict is running on its fifth year. Most people have stopped caring. Not to say that at the end of the day everyone is mostly focused on their domestic affairs. Not to forget the war in Yemen.

Most people believe or not want to get on with their life and a small minority are really bothered with the regional situation at least in the GCC which is as secure as always.

Assad and his regime has no future in Syria regardless so I don't care anymore. His time will come just like that of every despotic regime in the world. So time will do its job. It always does.

In essence we are wasting our time.

If God does indeed exist, I don't understand him. It seems these poor Arabs are going through worse times than Muhammad and his companions went through. They are getting screwed over in every way you can imagine and there's no sign of any help from God, or any hope, why doesn't God send some sort of veiled message and send somebody to inform his followers or anything...? I know Muslims will tell me he wants his people to suffer here to reap reward later, I can't buy that notion anymore.

At least he's calling for defensive 'Jihad' in local lands, are you trying to say our Christian Jihadists who want to rape and pillage the ME are any better? Stop being a hypocrite dude. You yourself seem to have obsession with encouraging the killing of random Muslims, you don't have same attitude towards random people in Asia or South America. I don't get why you are so caught up in their personal affairs, Muslims or Arabs like any people in world have soldiers, difference is most people don't trust their local armies and form militias. This doesn't give you a reason to want to wage war on them, that's like me saying I want to kill Swedish soldiers just because they're Christian and have military capabilities. Stop being so childish....
