Will someone please tell the old man its not a ' lust' for Chinese Goods.
It is a necessity for a middle class man & a poor man to obtain things at the cheapest rates - he after all has a family to feed and taxes to pay from his finite resources.
Instead of assigning a nationality to cheap goods the Old man ought to take the Govt to task for imposing back breaking taxes / levies which stifle local industry and in turn compels the man on the street to seek cheaper goods from any source.
If today cheap goods flood the market from for instance Swaziland , the Indian buyer would go for them.
Or it will destroy our local Industry completely, you cannot compete with China just on the basis of cheap labor. You are right. India need to open up its market. It will weed out none competitive industry and make Indian industry stronger. If India approach this with an attitude that India will not be able to compete with China or other none Indian suppliers, than it will be a self fulfilling prophecy. On the other hand, if India open up its market, Indian entrepreneurs will find a way to compete and survive. The biggest winner would be the Indian masses.
Or it will destroy our local Industry completely, you cannot compete with China just on the basis of cheap labor.
There manufacturing cost is far less than what an Indian Manufacturer can make. Heck even Indian Mobile Phone Manufacture there mobile set from China. Unless and until we change environment in Business is conducted in our country I am afraid nothing will change.
If India continue to shut its country from competition, than the losers are the Indian consumers. What India need to get rid of the industry that it cannot compete. If a particular industry can't compete after all these years of protection, than they should not exist.
Does this half pant wearing bigot know that the broadcast of his speech is most likely carried out with Chinese equipment ?
Protection? I wish GoI was protecting the Indian manufacturing Industry then Indian wouldn't have become a dumping ground for cheap chinese goods....one which can even be made in India. The market has alredy been a lot open for the chinese which has indeed spelled doom to the Indian enterpenures. Chinese goods are cheaper than the Indian once cos of lack of demand for Indian products becauses of their cost, which are higher than the one imported from china, cost are high because production lines in India are not overflowing unlike in china.U think india is protecting its manufacturing sector? Well they are not. And i wish they would do it to certain extent. If India continue to shut its country from competition, than the losers are the Indian consumers. What India need to get rid of the industry that it cannot compete. If a particular industry can't compete after all these years of protection, than they should not exist.
