IslamabadA sum of Rs 55,077.831 was spent on the up- gradation of transmission lines and transformers by all power distribution companies (DISCOs) during the last five years. Official sources told APP here on Sunday that an amount of Rs 8,930.648 million was utilized in 2008-09, Rs. 9779.598 million in 2009-10, Rs13,554.087 million in 2010-11, Rs.10,555.736 million in 2011-12 and Rs.12,257.736 million in 2012-13 on the up-gradation of transmission lines and transformers.
Giving the breakup, they said that the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) spent Rs.10,237.450 million, Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (GEPCO) Rs.7,451.443 million, Multan Electric Supply Company (MEPCO) Rs.11,923 million, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) Rs.7,102, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Rs.3,821.812 million, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) Rs.4,464.307 million and Quetta Electric Supply Company (QUESCO) Rs.6,464.307 during the said period.
Meanwhile, the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Thursday released 220,565 cusecs water for various rim stations with inflow of 234,948 cusecs. According to the data released by IRSA, the Tarbela Dam has already attained its maximum conservation level 1550 feet while the Mangla Dam was 3.30 feet below to its maximum conservation level 1242 feet. Water inflow in the Tarbela Dam was recorded as 141,300 cusecs with outflow 140,600 cusecs.
The water level in the Jhelum River at Mangla Dam was 1238.70 feet, which was 198.70 feet higher than its dead level of 1040 feet whereas the inflow and outflow of water was recorded as 23,683 cusecs and 10,000 cusecs respectively. The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded as 195,580, 188,398 and 243,650 cusecs respectively. Similarly, from the Kabul River a total of 23,900 cusecs of water was released at Nowshera and 46,065 cusecs released from the Chenab River at Marala.
Meanwhile due to necessary repair and maintenance work, power supply would be suspended from 132 KV Peshawar City Grid Station on Sept 9 and 11 from 7:00 am to 12:00 am, resultantly the consumers of 11 KV Gulbahr 1and 2, Islamabad, Sheikhabad and Hastnagri feeders would be affected. Similarly, power supply would be suspended from 132 KV Jamrud Grid Station on Sept 9 from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm resultantly the consumers of 11 KV Hayatabad and RMT feeders would be affected.APP
