Rs 200 Crore Home Ministry Tender For 30 Patrolling Boats
As part of efforts to strengthen coastal security, the Home Ministry is planning to issue a Rs 200 crore tender for procuring 30 patrolling vessels for the states on the western sea board.
"The Home ministry (MHA) will issue the Rs 200 tender in January this year for procuring 30 patrolling boats with endurance of four to five days in the Sea for the marine police in different states, sources said to Defencenow.com.
The tender will be a global one and there will be no nominations under this programme, they said.
This will be the fourth tender by the MHA to procure boats for the state marine police forces.
The first two tenders have already been finalised and were awarded to Kolkata-based GRSE and the Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), who built more than 250 boats in two years.
The third tender for inducting boats with endurance capability of two to three days was issued recently and has been received by various Indian and foreign shipyards including the Goa Shipyard Limited, Solas marine in Sri Lanka a number of European shipyards.
These boats are being procured under the Coastal Security Scheme Phase-II and will be distributed among nine coastal states along with four Union Territories.
The phase II of the scheme has been approved by the government for implementation over a period of five years beginning April 1, 2011.
