ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Sunday arrested Managing Director of Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), N A Zuberi, from here and two former CEOs of Lakhra Power Generation Company Limited (LPGCL-GENCO), Anwar Brohi and Muhammad Jamil from Karachi for their alleged involvement in multi-million Rental Power Project (RPP) scam. Those arrested are alleged of the awarding illegal contract to a Turkish company Karkey Karadenize Electric Uretium (KKEU) for the installation of a Rental Power Plant (RPP) in Karachi. “NAB Rawalpindi has three accused persons Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) MD NA Zuberi from Islamabad and two former CEOs of Lakhra Power Generation Company Limited Anwar Brohi and Muhammad Jamil from Karachi,” the anti-corruption watchdog said in a statement. The accused are expected to be produced before accountability court on Monday. The Supreme Court had ordered the federal watchdog to recover $223.58 million from the owners of RPPs in 2011 but sources said that so far three of 12 power plants have been investigated. The interior ministry had placed names of more than 50 individuals from different distribution companies in Exit Control List (ECL) including former chairman PEPCO, Shahid Rafi, Ex-MD/CEO PEPCO Engineer Tahir Basharat Cheema, Ex-MD PEPCO Rasool Khan Mahsud, Ex-additional Secretary MoWP Sheikh Zarrar Aslam, former Directors of PEPCO Board of Directors (BOD) Wazir Ali Bhayo, Ex-GM Wapada Power Privatization Organization (WPPO), Malik Muhammad Razi Abbas, CEO Central Power Generation Company Ltd (CPGCL), Tariq Nazir and Ex-CEO CPGCL Abdul Malik Memon to prevent them from absconding the country. - See more at: RPP Scam: NAB Arrests Three Officials from Islamabad, Karachi | Pakistan Tribune
