Rohingyas engaged in arms, drug, big threat to Bangladesh: PM Hasina

BGB itself is a fighting force. This started when it was called EPR or East Pakistan Rifles which was a mixed troop consisting of Bengali, Pathan, and Punjabi. Guns that you see in the pictures are not relevant. In times of border tensions, they are quickly equipped with better weapons.

Our BGB is capable to fight the regular army of Burma whenever needed, but not against heavy weapons. BA troops usually do not come to their support immediately but are kept on standby in Ramu. about 50 km from the border.

BGB fighting history is glorious against the Indian troops. BSF troops do not really challenge our BGB. BSF is purely a border security force but not a fighting force.
sir arming and equiping them after conflict will not work . MYM's job is done they have pushed unwanted people into BD already lets see what will happen next when india will push muslims of assam into BD after CAA fully implemented . as a pakistani what i see during that conflict times BGB was not ready nor well armed . while at least BGP have basic needs filled by their gov . its not secret that BD have very low defense budget and shear of BGB will be peanut in it .

BD-Burma border is not exactly like the Kashmir front. So, BGB troops do not have to stand erect always with guns. Rohingya was/ is a different issue. Burmese troops would have killed all of them if BD had not taken them in.

There was a BD-Burma big border war in 2000. BGB had repulsed all the MM adventures trying to build spurs in the Naf Dariya. At this time Crown Prince Abdullah visited the front and told Burma that SA would be with Bangladesh fighting against it.

Burma lost quite a number of troops and withdrew. Our BA troops did not yet join the fighting when Burma requested for a truce. Please watch the video.

How many millions of people did Afghanistan push into Pakistan? So, what your big gun border security forces were doing there in those times? Sucking fingers?

We should take the valid points of Pakistani posters that it is BD that is ultimately at fault for ending up with over a million Rohingyas.

Myanmar is a weak divided state and they have been trying for decades to get rid of their Rohingya population. There have been wave after wave of refugees and the first one under the current AL administration was in 2012. It was then obvious that Myanmar would like to expel them all.

BD should have made sure that at least BAF was the equal of Myanmar as that would not have placed an undue burden on the exchequer.

If BD armed sufficiently and showed intent then Myanmar may never have expelled Rohingyas to BD in 2017.

The fact that BD got pushed around by Myanmar should be a source of shame to all BD'shis.

this is what i am talking here . MYM did not feel unsecured or there is deterrence . BD should have strong forces and its PM's job to make them stronger .why haseena is complaining now ?

after MYM india started assam CAA darama and creating narrative that millions of bangladeshis are illegal in india . so when they expel these so called bangladeshis there will be a narrative behind this and long history .

but it seems my words are too painful for many BD members whom always discuss to might is right and we are great .

Rohingyas fear genocide in Bangladesh. Mass sterilization is being followed by ghettosization and communal hatred spread by PM.

Pakistan wants them to go back to their native land in Afghanistan.

Similarly, BD also wants Rohingya to go back to their native land in Arakan now occupied by Burma.

However, giving a few weapons to the BGB will not solve the issue. No refugee issue has ever been solved by wars. It has been happening in all ages.

The Nobel Committee must be considering your name for awarding a demonic innovations Prize. The other person will be Hasina Bibi of Bangladesh.

Congratulations!!! I will recommend your name if asked by the Committee.

Even with the equipment that was available to BGB and Bangladesh Military, we could have easily pushed back the Burmese attempt to "push-in" Rohingya refugees into Bangladesh territory. But the Govt. was inept at decision making and could not take a strong position against Burmese. As a result, we had to accept all the refugee. They probably thought Uncle America will come and help, but that was clearly not to be, especially with Trump at power at the time. Again, lack of strategic awareness within the BD govt.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Bangladesh Rifles (current BGB) at the time was able to thwart many attempts by Burmese to push-in Rohingya people into Bangladesh. They could not be successful at the time because the Burmese could not dare pick a fight with BD, since Bangladesh was above par compared to the Burmese when it came to military prowess. But things have deteriorated since then, with Burmese strengthening their military and Bangladesh doing nothing substantial.

The ideal scenario in 2017 would have been if Bangladesh pre-emptively invaded and created a buffer zone inside Burmese territory. The West would have been in favour on "humanitarian grounds" and China would have remained neutral. That way the Rohingya people would have a place to live and we would not be with this burden right now.

But that did not happen only because Bangladesh government failed to maintain military parity with Myanmar.

Nobody. It would be a clumsy exercise of ineffectiveness, with either side failing to make any significant progress, after a quick period in which they’d burn most of their valuable military assets. I assume China would put and end to such a quarrel pretty fast
