Rival Lyari groups endorse peace deal: Palijo

HYDERABAD: Leaders of rival groups in Lyari, Uzair Jan Baloch and Baba Ladla, have endorsed a peace declaration to restore peace in the violence-hit area of Karachi, Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) president Ayaz Latif Palijo announced Saturday.
Speaking to journalists at a press conference here attended by respresentatives from both groups, the QAT chief said Uzair Baloch and Baba Ladla endorsed the ceasefire agreement over telephone.
Respresentatives, who Palijo refered to as ‘elders’ of the groups, included MPA Sania Naz Baloch, Adnan Baloch, Arif Bulaidi Baloch and Liaquat Askani Baloch. Maulana Abdul Majeed Sarbazi, Mama Nisar Baloch, Mama Umeed Ali Baloch, Abdul Rasheed Baloch and Rais Ghulam Qadir represented the Baba Ladla group. The delegations reached Palijo House from Karachi and participated in a long discussion in favour of peace in Lyari.
Palijo said that after a detailed discussions among committee leaders of both Lyari groups, it was decided to cease fire immediately.
“I talked to both leaders Uzair and Ladla on phone in detail and they assured me of their full cooperation in restoring peace in Lyari . They have also given powers to me to make all decisions about peace,” he said.
Palijo said that several important decisions were taken and the Lyari Ittehad Committee (LIC), which he will personally head, was formed to implement the decisions.
Members of the LIC will include MPA Sania Naz Baloch, Sir Adnan Baloch, Arif Baloch, Liaquat Baloch, Master Khursheed, Maulana Abdul Majeed Sarbazi, Mama Nisar Baloch, Mama Umeed ali Baloch, Mama Abdul Rasheed Baloch, Rais Ghulam Qadir, Anwer Soomro and Mazhar Raho, he said, adding that the committee had powers to include further members.
Palijo said that both the groups were directed to cease fire and end their differences immediately.
He said that if a member of either group violates the declaration, the main leadership of that particular group will be bound to take action against them.
The QAT president further appealed to all political parties, including the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (ST), Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and others to play their role in restoring peace in the troubled area.
