Manzoor Wassan lashes out at his own party - thenews.com.pk
KARACHI: Provincial Minister Manzoor Wassan lashed out at his own party on Monday, claiming that a police station in the chief minister's native Khairpur was being unlawfully converted into a shopping mall.
Speaking to reporter outside the Sindh Assembly here today, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader – who is also the Sindh Minister for Prisons, Mines, Minerals and Anti-Corruption – also accused members of the Pakistan Muslim League - Functional (PML-F) of being involved in the purported scam.
Wassan said that, as the anti-corruption minister, he would launch a probe into the matter of sale of land alloted for the police station.
“I am an elected member from Khairpur. Even I was not informed of the issue,” he said.
At the start of the Sindh Assembly session today, Wassan said that the alleged nexus of PML-F members and the police will have to be broken, to which PML-F lawmakers started protesting.
Deputy Speaker Shahla Raza ruled that Wassan's objectionable statements should be expunged from the record.
During the question answer session, Senior Minister Nisar Khuhro said that there were currently 269 colleges of Science, art and commerce operating in Sindh.
He said that the damage to educational institutes during the monsoon rains was being addressed, however the issue of discontinuation of electricity to schools and colleges was linked to the Sindh government's dispute with the federal government over electricity.
