The only worry now is how other countries will use their power to delay any selection. We should have just done the deal with Israel on this one considering the slow pace of the LCA project. Not every procurement requires calls for tender. A blunder that can slow down the LCA even more.

It simply can't happen like that as per government rules, every deal valued over a certain ammount HAS to go through an open (global) tender route.

In fact HAL's RFP formulation is well crafted to expedite the process (deadlines are in weeks not months and the bids have been given to only a select few, they won't entertain unsolicited offers which usually slows down these things).

HAL has cleverly created the conditions for EL/M-2052 to prevail (would be the optimal product) but also put Elbit in the postion that it HAS to make a decent offer and not sit back on its laurels.
