Everyone knows this wont be happening. The UK can ill afford an economic spat with the worlds largest economy during a recession and a domestic economic crises. Brexit and the pandemic alone are reasons to make this news unbelievable. Sure London would like to create an image of it doing its utmost to "protect" Hong Kong but nobody can seriously believe that the UK would seriously risk the ire of Beijing for a city half way across the globe.
