EDT July 16, 2015
2:40 p.m.: Local media are reporting as many as four military personnel have been killed in a shooting rampage in Chattanooga. A police officer was shot and is being treated at a hospital. The shooter is believed to be dead.
Law enforcement authorities in Chattanooga, Tennessee, are responding to a report of a police officer shot near a Navy Reserve center.
The Navy said, "Investigating report of shooting at Navy recruiting building on Lee Highway. More to follow," in a tweet sent mid-day Thursday.
The Navy also confirmed a "shooting at Reserve Center on Amnicola Highway," in Chattanooga. Sources told CNN that there were reports of multiple shots from a high-powered rifle.
As news of the active shooter investigation spread, the campus of Chattanooga State University went into lockdown and a no-fly zone was imposed over the city.
