ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered on Monday for the former federal interior minister Rehman Malik to be indicted on Mar 25 over a contempt of court notice issued over the case pertainging to corruption in the Pakistan Steel Mills, DawnNews reported.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhamma Chudhry resumed the hearing over the case pertaining to contempt of court against the former federal minister.

During the hearing Rehman Malik said that with the submission of his apology, he had left himself at the mercy of the court.

He added that it was in the court’s domain to reject or accept his apology.

The court ordered for the proceedings over the case to continue and appointed Advocate General of Pakistan Irfan Qadir as the prosecutor in the case.

Rehman Malik had tendered an apology letter to the SC on Feb 28 this year after the court had sought a written explanation of the reasons for change of the FIA team investigating the alleged corruption of Rs26 billion in Pakistan Steel Mills.

He should be disqualified from contesting the coming elections!
