Reason Why Nawaz Sharif Wins so Much: Low Voter Turnout

2013: 55.02%

The point of making this thread is to understand why only a select few win the elections in Pakistan. It makes sense that most people in Pakistan don't even have faith in the system therefore refrain from voting for anyone entirely. In 2013, the reason why it was so high was because of Imran Khan (in my opinion) he appealed to a few people that had lost faith but still 45% of registered voters didn't vote (that is massive).

With the voter turnout it makes sense as to why Nawaz is always winning. It is safe to say that the vast majority of his supporters vote for him because they like the current system. This also shows that no; most Pakistanis are not jahil idiots that have lost their morals. Most are actually in fact the opposite. The elections attract the majority of the wrong crowd.

I don't expect the upcoming election to have a great voter turnout this time either. Imran khan has lost his way post -2013 and doesn't appeal to people as much anymore.

Well before the 2013 elections i have only voted once that was because i was young and it was my first time. After that even i had given up and it was only due to IK that i and many of my friends and familes came out to vote. I will do it again in 2018 and then depending on the result, it might be my last time.

If PMLN wins again the turnouts are gonna drop I have a good feeling. In by-elections, in everything.

If there was no IK in 2013 the turnout would've been around 46%. 7.5 million voted for him.

Pakistan desperately needs a change. Nawaz racked up extra 40 billion
debt in 4 years, Pakistan debt has gone to 80 billion. Do the people want

Don't you get it, the people don't care what happens to the country tomorrow, as long as they get to eat a plate of biryani today.

Although I am not as clued in Pakistan politics but I think most people vote at the local level. Their horizon only extends to the local scene and the dominant figures acording to tribe/biraderi or local rivalries. The local notebales just 'sell' their electorate to the party that cuts the best deal for them. What is good for the nation never comes in the picture.

What Pakistan needs is a presidential system. I have no doubt that IK would win over NS if we had a national vote with IK/NS facing off.

The voter turn out as per OP is 55.02% in General Elections of 2013 what does it make you think that even if the voter turn out reaches 70% or even 80% for instance then every single votes will be in favour of PTI or any other party .

That's my point those people don't have faith in it anymore. They don't have a preference. So what are we left with:
1. Lots of NS supporters that vote for him.
2. A few IK and PPP etc. voters
3. Independent

Elections don't reflect the preference of the entire nation.

Turnouts are all extremely low. Anything under 70% should be considered low.

For that the Manifestoes of Political parties should be realistic things which they can actually fulfil not like 90 days Tabdeeli or end of Load shedding in 6 months

I think if someone does not votes "Army should get to use that vote" and they can make a judgement who gets credit for all the 50% Unused vote

That should fix the dynasty system once and for all
