RAW Investigation Reveals Shady Dealings of NGOs -The New Indian Express

NEW DELHI: Foreign funding of NGOs, especially under the garb of ‘development aid’, seems to be posing a grave threat to the country.

Intelligence officials examining such funding patterns are shocked as Netherlands-based Landlijke India Werkgroep (LIW) has been found to be assisting insurgent groups in the Northeast.

The LIW, based in Utrecht city and funded by CORDAID, which is “planning to bring down development projects in the Northeast”, claims to be one of the largest Dutch development aid organisations with presence in 38 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East. On the face of it, the donation appears to be routine and a normal transaction between donor and recipient. However, the fund transfers have sent shockwaves among agencies monitoring the function of suspicious social organisations in the troubled parts of India.

An input of external spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) suggests that the LIW, which claims to have been working in the field of child labour and Dalit uplift, in fact maintains close contact with a number of dissident groups from the Northeast, including the NDFB and ULFA. Both outfits have been designated as terrorist organisations by the government.

The LIW, which has not updated its donation details since 2011, claims that it had received Euro 30,000 from CORDAID in 2011. “Significantly, the LIW is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Development Co-operation. The LIW has in the past hosted several seminars where NDFB and ULFA activists were invited,” the R&AW said. The LIW is also funded by the European Union, which has come under the scanner of Indian agencies for planning to fund projects linked to CORDAID, which, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) says, is planning to bring down development projects in the Northeast.

Interestingly, CORDAID receives grants from the Dutch Government. The IB says CORDAID plans to sabotage oil drilling projects in three districts of Manipur, big dams in Arunachal Pradesh and uranium mining projects in Meghalaya.

In order to achieve its goal, CORDAID is also routing funds through two NGOs, Chindu and Swadhikar, to “Manipur Coalition on Extractives”, which includes Rural Women for Upliftment Society (RWUS) and Centre for Organisation Research and Education (CORE). CORDAID also financed a programme to increase women’s participation in decision-making in Manipur by spending Rs 1.67 crore in 2013-2014. “There are reports of serious violations by Manipur-based NGOs and in 2012 at least 125 NGOs’ FCRA license to receive foreign aids were cancelled. “Many NGOs based in Netherlands are said to have been maintaining close ties with anti-India groups and specific reports have been received by the government,” R&AW officials said.

we all know such NGOs are doing some hanky panky....but whats up with this "assistance" and "maintaining close ties" with insurgents without shedding any light on their actual activities.
these sort of counter-propaganda arguments/articles are itself the progenitors of another vile propaganda

lets see why....the article bases its allegation on the unshakable morality and indisputable state actions
which is very wrong....the indian state has f**ked up the situation in NE. so washing its hands by blaming a few NGOs with RAW report is bullshit

What was Sonia government doing all these years ??

As far as I know ,according to these report these NGO start their full fledged ops just after UPA rule in 2004.IB and RAW may know all these infos. But they kept this under the carpet due Sonia presence.
Now we got a real patriot as our
PM.Congress are decimated .So under our present GoI foreign NGO games are finished.
Now it is the payback time for anti-India establishments

NGO's every where are mostly involved in dirty work and anti state activities they are mostly tools of agencies of enemies or enemy countries

COngressis are far worse than i initially thought

Oh my friend, you have no idea.

There is so much more to Congress even since Nehru's time. We in Sikkim were taught laurels about how great a man Nehru was. His image was put at par with the likes of George Washington who won freedom for America, Ataturk who founded modern Turkey or the famous German stateman Otto Von Bismark for his farsightedness.

But that was all centralized planning.

Nehru's tryst with socialism was to maintain an iron fist centralized control and to ensure that people worship him and his generations for decades. And that is exactly what happened.

While we joined Indian Union which was the best thing that happened, many of those with an inquisitive mindset began to read through tonnes of sources that were otherwise not seen in main media to know what a man he and his family was.

Why do you think that groups like RSS and the other right wing nationalist groups hate Congress so much? It is not because they are some rabid, frothing monsters that media portrays them to be.

It is because they KNOW what the Family has been like and what it has done to India. There are thousands of things that we don't know that they would have done. But freedom fighters who died because of Congress-Colonial alliance would have known.

That Rahul moron is a plain stupid. He don't know through big plans of these NGOs

Congress we know was destroyed long time ago.It disintegration enters in final stage when that Italian lady and her idiot son stepped in to it.

Congress was never the way it portrayed itself to be.

The only exception I recollect in their history was Lal Bahadur Shastri and of course, the legendary Iron Man of India.
