KARACHI: At least 11 people were killed in different incidents of violence in Karachi on Saturday, DawnNews reported.

Unknown gunmen opened indiscriminate fire at a juice shop near Maskan Chowrangi in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, killing the shop owner and two other people whereas four others sustained severe injuries in the attack and were shifted to a private hospital for treatment.

According to the police, Maskan Chowrangi and adjacent areas were being targeted by the group which perpetrated the attack. Shopkeepers have been instructed to close their shops at midnight.

Residents of the area claimed there was a sharp increase in incidents of targeted killings in the area and that police had failed to ensure their safety.

Separately, two madressah students were gunned down at Nipa Chowrangi, following which protesters blocked roads and burned tyres.

Meanwhile, two brothers were shot in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. The funeral prayers for the deceased persons were offered in Shafiq Colony.

A man was shot dead near Indus Plaza in the city’s Federal-B area whereas two people were killed in the areas of Gulshan-e-Hadeed and Golimar.

A police officer, who sustained injuries due to firing in Sachal Goth near Super Highway earlier today, died in a hospital.

Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism. Targeted operations led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by federal, military and civilian agencies.

Staff Report

KARACHI: Sindh Rangers claimed Saturday that a political party is found involved in sectarian killings in Karachi, SAMAA reported.

Spokesman of the paramilitary Rangers said in a statement that the law-enforcers have found evidences about a political party’s involvement in Friday night’s killings.

“There is a complete harmony between Sunni and Shia sects, but sectarian killings are a conspiracy to spoil peace in Karachi,” the Rangers said, claiming that killers would soon be arrested.

The fresh wave of violence has claimed 10 lives since last night.

Killing of two madrasa students on Saturday morning sparked protest in Gulshan-e-Iqbal where infuriated people came out on Rashid Minhas Road and blocked the traffic by burning tyres. Police said unknown bike riders opened fire on the youths, killing the two youths on the spot.

A dead body was recovered from Baldia Town locality, one from Golimar area, a man was shot dead near Indus Plaza in Sohrab Goth and another in Gulshan-e-Hadeed.

Last night, three armed attackers riding three motorbikes sprayed bullets on a high-roof vehicle in Gulshan’s Maskan area, killing three people on the spot. – SAMAA

Have you heard the name before ? Anything that this outfit might have done and accepted responsibility for ? Did Mr Nisar stick with his statement later ?

@Secur

After the events of yesterday, a kick in the butt is needed.
Lets worsen the situation , shall we ? Explain to me how the operation that has been going for months with combined might of police and rangers with billions spent has been unable to achieve anything at all , now in phase 3 . The daily body count is still the same .

@blain2 How will you explain this blaming the whole thing on a single political party and declaring it the sole problem and the chief cause of concern for the country ?
