Railways Rolls out New & Improved AC 3-Tier Coaches with CCTV Cameras and Enhanced Safety Features

Hi

Sir as you said very little difference between passenger experience but the LHB coaches features modern safety features like Antiroll mechanisms. This cannot be done suddenly, but we should work in this direction.

Gosh! How can I forget that! - You raised a very very significant point - Once while I was waiting for my train at Lucknow Railway Station a couple of months back - RDSO Engineers were on the other platform busy inspecting the ill-fated Dehradun-Varanasi Janata Express which had derailed Bachhrawan railway station in Raebareli - after the accident it was brought to Lucknow for crash inspection - One of them explained to his team that many lives could have been saved if IRY/IR20 coach or even LHB coaches were used - 34 lives were lost in that unfortunate accident...

There is very little to compare between the two in terms of passenger experience; LHB coaches are miles ahead - Though ICF ones aren't bad either to stop their production in my opinion - Kyun @anant_s @gslv mk3 ?
there is one problem with LHB coaches in present scenario that these aren't self generating ones meaning they require power from either EOG coaches or from HOG capability of locomotives.
adding 2 EOG coaches mean reduction in revenue per train and all locos are still not HOG capable.
it will take some time but surely LHB coaches are a class apart when in comes to safety and comfort.
as per info i have railways will cease ICF coaches production from 2019.

Actually LHB Coaches are being modified for the same purpose - ICF manufactured LHB Coaches have been upgraded from their original German versions - Shatabdi's LHB coaches were modified as ICF devised permanent magnet alternators since the dimensions of LHB coach did not let power generators attached to the wheels - This self-generating power mechanism help increase the passenger capacity of Shatabdi Express!

Well I was little surprised that Bilaspur Rajdhani still runs an ICF rake. Is it due to some technical reasons or priority?

You Indians call this piece of junk advanced? And no please dont compare with Pakistans coaches, we never claim its advanced.

Uncalled for ... @Arsalan reign in your unruly countryman mate

Your 70cc moped maker country does not have the standing to call other country's coaches junk.

Half of your Railways is rusting away in loco sheds while other half consists of rejected Chinese junk.

I can't even laugh at your poor state.

This Donkey train suits you...

@Arsalan
there used to be a long section of electrified double lines in pakistan.
do you have any info on how electric locos are faring today?
there was an unconfirmed news that China will supply newer electric locos for PR, but haven't heard anything since.

.
Aren't they Chinese made? :undecided:

They call it AC sleeper, which is equivalent to AC 1st class of IR.
No, We bought a few from China initially but now these are being manufactured in Islamabad Carriage Factory. In fact, the quality have immensely improved from the Chinese ones, interior at least.

Done, dealt with both posts. It is rare to have a neutral thread running in a positive environment, if we have got one here there is no need to spoil it. DO NOT TROLL AND DO NOT REPLY TO TROLL POSTS. I Hope the MODS will agree.

On question of improving comfort and Luxury in trains, a new class of Anubhuti coaches (LHB based) are designed and will be put up on commercial run shortly.
These will be provided with LED TV, Modular toilets and other comfortable facilities. Initially New Delhi Chandigarh Shatabdi will be equipped with these new class coaches. Fare for these will be about 60% more than Executive class of first AC.

:( Scrapped!

The project ended years ago. It was not a VERY long section but yes, Lahore-Khanewal electrified lines were 294 Km long. With the energy/electricity crisis these locomotives were taken off-track, now the electricity lines are also being dismantled. I don't think we will see electric trains for a decade or so. that too only if we start addressing the electricity problem today.

Yess, this one is good now :)

And the TV part is great as well, people normally underestimate it. I have traveled from Faisalabad to Karachi and since they time they introduced TV in the compartments, the 16 odd hour journey looks a lot more shorter and manageable now. Easy to pass time on such long journeys watching movies on decent 32" LCD TV. The business trains here started this facility a few years ago and i prefer using that if i have to travel by train (have used it a couple of times since the TV thingy started :) )
