Indian media organisations are carrying reports of the Indian Air Force (IAF) "dominating" the Royal Air Force during a recent bilateral air combat exercise.

A resounding score of "12-0" was conceded to the IAF Su-30's during the initial dogfighting stages of Within Visual Range (WVR) encounters.

Sources from the RAF state, however, that Indian planes were being 'bedded in' to new terrain and effectively shown the ropes. The RAF were "introducing them to the airspace", putting the Typhoons up against the Sukhois in something more akin to a pigeon-shooting exercise, rather than a combat exercise, so the Indian pilots could get their bearings.

Once the IAF were comfortable flying in foreign air space the Large Force Exercises (LFEs) began and subsequently the RAF Typhoons proved more than a match for the Indian SU-30's.

Speaking to Forces TV an RAF spokesman offered a polite rebuttal to the claims in the Indian press, saying:

"Our analysis does not match what has been reported, RAF pilots and the Typhoon performed well throughout the exercise, with and against the Indian Air Force."

"Both nations learnt a great deal from the exercise and the RAF look forward to the next opportunity to train alongside the IAF."

The Large Force Engagements saw 4 v 4 engagements at beyond visual range and graduated to a massive 8 v 8 engagement featuring 16 aircraft in the skies near Coningsby.

Asked about the performance of IAF pilots in these Large Force Engagements, Group Captain Srivastav told NDTV his pilots performed "fairly well" though "quantifying [the results] is difficult".

Believe because of their pompous and bully claims no wonder other air forces will stop joint exercises with them, earlier similar situation created with the US (probably if not mistaken).

Most credible air forces around the world wouldn't even whisper about their joint exercises but IAF went on National TV with false bravado, once the RAF challenged their claims and ridiculed it as a cricket score, the IAF retracted it's statement.,,, sheer embarrassment.

Entire World do Military drills............. no one boost about results.................with ofcourse Indians as exceptions.

From Red Flag to current exercise..................

From Bisons doing sweep against F16 to Su30 doing sweep against Eurofighter.

They always find something to chill in their self created fools paradise.....................

While Whole World laugh behind their back............ :coffee:

They have this situation

''We want to be happy.............. feed us more lies''................

pathetic

Similar thing happened with PAF as well but not with a strong response, when they claimed to shoot down an euro-fighter by F-16 in mock fight. Didn't remember whether it was Italian or British.

Supa pawa indians why you do this, chutki bar pani me doob maro

absolute nutters. the iaf have done near enough nothing good except for the mk2's. the navy is more successful than the air force.

The disclosure wasn't made by the PAF, rather it was revealed by a third party.

After one of these earlier exercises in India, where the RAF participated with Tornadoes, both commanders agreed as not to reveal anything to the waiting media except the usual pleasantries.........IMPOSSIBLE......to the dismay of the RAF Commander, his Indian counterpart opened with the lines with claims of a Tornado kill.

I had followed the exercise proceeding when they took place, but was quite taken aback when I came across a number of articles published by the spectrum of Indian media about how they were triumphant against the Eurofighter.
This (and several other instances) unfortunately, made me abandon the notion of Indian media being a credible source of news.

The Pakistani view that Indian psyche is driven by a deep rooted sense of inferiority which they are always trying to compensate by their fake bravado and pompous behavior is not a myth. They prove this every day.

.
what are the parameters of these WVR dog fights??

doesn't the Eurofighter have HMCS along with the ASRAAM make it nearly impossible to escape?

or is this dog fighting where you have that the HUD lined up on the enemy aircraft

like in this video

Sources in the RAF are calling Indian claims of superiority in the air "comical" while ridiculing reports that the Indian pilots flying Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft defeated the RAF Typhoon aircraft not only in one-on-one combat, but also when pitted against two Typhoons.

The two-week international air combat exercises were held last month at Lincolnshire.

IAF pilots flying Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighters scored a resounding 12-0 in combat against RAF Typhoon jets in the close range dogfighting operations, and also held an edge over the Typhoons in the long-range exercises though not as successful, claimed media reports.

The Sukhois's dexterity and tracking system that avoid detection helped the Indian pilots in close-combat manoeuvring, they said.

A RAF source told The Independent that the claims cited in Indian media were clearly designed for the "domestic audience".

Meanwhile a spokesperson for the RAF said: "Our analysis does not match what has been reported, RAF pilots and the Typhoon performed well throughout the exercise with and against the Indian Air Force. Both [forces] learnt a great deal from the exercise and the RAF look forward to the next opportunity to train alongside the IAF."

Tony Osborne, the London bureau chief of Aviation Week, suggested the scores be viewed through the haze of pilot bravado and national pride, but acknowledged the Su-30MKI in the right hands "would present a potent challenge".

In an interview with Indian television, group Captain Ashu Srivastav praised his pilots as exceptional but refused to quantify the results.

The 10-day drill which commenced on July 21 was the fourth edition of the Indo-UK bilateral exercise called "Indradhanush".

The IAF took four of its fleet of Russian-designed SU-30MKI Flanker fighter aircraft to face off against the RAF's Typhoon FGR4 fighter.

It's looks miracle if Su30Mki beat Eurofighters with 12-0. It is big claim.
i.e the Su-30s an edge on the Typhoons on 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2, but even when a Sukhoi flew against two Typhoons, it managed to shoot down both enemies.
Looks like SU30MKI is alien technology ,
While during recent clashes with Pakistani, Modi was talking about Rafale, ignoring 200+ Su30Mki. Even He has not such confidence on Su30.

Indian Media turning causing humiliation for a professional airforce luke IAF. About time they improve their journalistic standard.
